Um...I have a lazy eye

I have a lazy left eye and, although I'm able to see straight with both, I am beginning to get very annoyed with it. I've had it for many years and it is until now that I'm becoming fed up with it. And I've heard that it'll be to late to save it after 17 yrs old. Right now, I'm 15, so is it too late? And is there a way I can get rid of it and make it straight?

I have 2 friends that had that surgery when they were around your age.

I have it, They didn't catch it till about ten, and I had to wear a path over my good eye for a long period of time. Still don't have great vision in it. I'd get treatment asap though the longer your wait the less you can get back

I would check to see if your health insurance covers such an operation.
If you've got some that does, I would get that done as soon as possible.
Otherwise, money might be an issue but go for it if you can.

By "see straight" do you mean that you don't have double vision?
I'm curious, because I thought that a lazy eye couldn't track all the way.
Mine didn't, but it came on suddenly and I had the surgery within a year.
It relapses when fatigued, but generally I have no problems.

One of my friends had lazy eye sometime before both he and I reached high school. He went with a patch over the lazy eye for several weeks. It helped, and then he got glasses.

This reminds me of a Peanuts storyline that Schultz once did where Charlie Brown's little sister was diagnosed with Lazy Eye.After she got the patch she went around pretending she was a pirate.

Hmmm, you can try doing an exercise where you hold a finger in front of your nose and take it away then bring it back in. It's supposed to help you focus. Just hold your finger where both eyes are on it and bring it back and forth. Or something like that

I wore a patch when I was three to combat my lazy eye. Now both of my eyes act as the dominant one. With minimal concentration, I can switch which eye is dominant. Because of that, I do not see dimensions like most people do and I have trouble determining distances. 3-D comics and movies with the red/blue glasses do not work on me, either.

Probably no surprise that I also suffer from headaches daily. I can't recall a day where my head hasn't ached.

If you lazy eye doesn’t affect your vision, then I’d say it’s not too big a deal except that it’s a huge distraction to anyone who is looking at you, but I’d have it fixed if I were you as the lazy eye will likely cause you trouble with determining distance and with headaches and the like.

It's never too late to fix a lazy eye I believe.. One of my mom's co-workers got his lazy eye fixed recently with surgery, he's 40-somethin' years old and has had it his whole life!
