why you go to your current church

Talk about anything in here.

Theology - What is being preached and taught is interesting and essentially sound, but it still challenges me and makes me uncomfortable at times. My class, at the least, refuses to let studies remain shallow.

Community - I know many of the people there. We discern together, help each other, etc. Also, the church as an organization makes it really easy to volunteer at soup kitchens, homeless shelters and the like. Without these structures I'd probably miss a lot of those opportunities.

I am not looking forward to moving again and having to search for another congregation.

Wow, excellent. Those are like the essentials for all churches - or at least they should be. Though I guess it may take some time to make a community.

I came to the church I now attend because:

-I felt stuck in a rut in my home church. Needed new people, new experiences (and people my age!)
-The next church I went to, the college group kind of died. Didn't feel involved or invited by the rest of the church.
-The pastor of the church I now attend knows both my parents and my home church's pastor, so I wasn't walking in blindly.
-The college group is amazing. Non-judgemental, very enlightening, challenging, and informative. Structured, but not strict in the least.
-Varied, lively congregation. Very come-as-you-are, unorthodox-looking and -acting received just as warmly as anyone else. I've never hung around a group of people who felt this....Christian, and in such a positive way.
-There's a small group of artists here, which I'm extremely grateful for.
-Free breakfast on Sunday.:thumb:

I went to my church at home because I was a kid and really had no choice. Now that I'm at college I usually go across the street to a Presbetaryian church. They're extememely nice, but everyone's old, lol.

Sadly I haven't been to church for a month now due to my health. That aside, I like the church I go to because of the student support that it runs. I did start attending when I was a kid because my mother did but over the years I guess I started to feel like I wanted to go for myself.

Plus, if I leave, the music groups sound system will give over and die without me looking after it. T-T
Will insert something intelligent here later... maybe

I just became Christian 6 months ago, and I started going to my church because my bestfriend and boyfriend go there, but also because God lead me to that specific church because of the ways they teach the Word, and the sermons, as well as the practices we follow. I also love how we're a small church, and everyone knows each other and whats going on in eachothers lives, and we all get along. But I also go to a few other services when I'm at school, but they're more youth groups than anything else.

I think I liked my church because there was always something to do. I knew a lot of the people, and the messages were always just what I needed to hear.

I don't go to church anymore but I do get together with some friends to worship, pray, and learn about the Bible in a small circle on the floor.

I go to my church because it accepts members of youth countercultures without raising a big fuss (which is good for a Goth like myself). Also, the people at my church are quite knowledgable and I can carry on the most fascinating discussions with them in areas I'm fond of like music, art, cinema, philosophy, theology, and politics, and I can discuss them openly without fear of backlash for my views.
