A few of us had mentioned this on the Batman thread, but I really think we should leave that thread for discussion of the film. So, continue discussion of this topic here. I am still blown away. Such a shame.

It was likely an accidental overdose of sleeping pills. Heath Ledger was reputed to have been sleeping really badly for a long time due to events in his life and getting into the mindset to play Batman's 'Joker'. That would have messed with his head a lot. From what I've read he's not the sort to suicide.

Anytime is a sad time for death, but this is especially sad since The Dark Knight was going to come out soon. I never was a huge fan of Heath Ledger, but it shocked me thoroughly when I heard that he died.

Another young actor died recently too, Brad Renfro. He was only 25.

It was really sobering for me. I mean, to have that much fame and be so young, and suddenly, it's all over. Wow.

Just to update everyone, MSN is reporting that the autopsy was inconclusive. It may be 10 days before they really know what happened I guess.

Wikipedia stated that Ledger had a bad relationship with the paparazzi. No links yet if that was a possible factor leading to his overdose.

I remember being heartbroken and genuinely shocked about this. Heath Ledger was one of my favorite actors. In fact, I saw "A Knight's Tale" on my bookshelf last night and nearly cried.

Here's to you, Heath; Hollywood lost one of its best and brightest.

Goodbye Heath Ledger. You were awesome and one of my favorite actors too, especially in A Knight's Tale and The Brothers Grimm.

Uh, yeah, that's pretty much disgusting. I'd heard about this beforehand. It blows my mind that people, especially people that claim to be Christians, can actually be that insensitive.

Wow i really get annoyed everytime i see something from those idiots. So heath ledger played a gay cowboy (granted rather disturbing) but honestly he's and actor they really need to go to a different country and see what the real world is like and then we can never bring them back XD oh well. But i actually find the thing about the fox radio personality just as disturbing

I say this: sure, he played a bad role in a bad movie, but he may not have been a bad person. What if he didn't know any better? Only God knows the heart; we as human beings cannot judge.

And I saw Tom and Huck a long time ago, as ShiroiHikari mentioned Brad Renfro. So sad. :(

If we don't judge actors for doing roles that show murder, why do we freak if someone does a roll where they play a homosexual. I think it's pretty obvious that Ledger was not gay. Yet, people throw such a fit over Brokeback Mt. I just think thats kind of silly. Perhaps people need to not be so sexually insecure. Just my 2 cents.

I think it's funny people will say crap like that when something like this comes up, but nobody says a word when say, Vic Mignogna (who is a Christian) plays a character like Broly from DBZ who was trying to destroy the world...and trying to destroy the world isn't exactly a "good role."

:"[ I heard about this and almost cried. I actually DID sob a bit when I heard that the WBC would picket his funeral.

Those people disgust me. For the longest time, I refused to believe that Christ was right because people like them existed... now I know, but still, it is so disheartening when old friends find out about my conversion and protest that all Christians want for the demise of gays, etc, and all this other crap that most likely stems from those people.
/rant. ehh, sorry about that e.e

I just saw a Knight's Tale on tv a few nights ago. :-[ old favorite... and the Brother's Grimm was pretty amazing. [sigh] He will be missed...

Um, either way, I'm glad to see that CAA is treating this well. I'm proud of you guys. I was shocked when I saw this thread because well, certain roles have made him a bit of an inauspicious figure.

I don't even watch DBZ. :P

I know what you're saying, but that movie just seems to have generated more controversy than said anime series. My guess is that people are just looking at things like this: had the two guys been the antagonists in the film rather than the protagonists, the film may not have been judged too harshly. If Broly is a villain, then it makes sense people wouldn't be freaking out over him trying to destroy the world. But because Brokeback Mt. involved the protagonists as gay cowboys, "crap like that" is coming up.

And frankly, I don't exactly know how to take what you've said, so I'm just going to say "okeyz, wutevr."

And I'm thinking of something kind of funny here, but I won't say it until later...

I was surprised to hear this, he would not have been a person in Hollywood whom I would have thought would die so soon.

And since I considered it bad form to go off topic in a memorial thread, there you have it.

I think Righteousss meant that it was good to have Heath Ledger complete his work before passing on. I assume that's what Ledger would have wanted. I believe, that with this being his toughest role of his life, psychologically, he was able to continue and complete the movie no matter what it took. I believe he won over it.

Anyways, I think that's what Righteousss meant.

Well, I for one do not want to die leaving something that other people are counting on me for unfinished. That statement is probably a better memorial than anyone who is hung up on his Brokeback Mountain character will likely give.

I don't know how Ledger felt about that movie or his role in it, but I will go out on a limb and bet that he would not have wanted his life to be summarized on that movie alone.

The leadership of WBC hasn’t even a child's understanding of the gospel nor faith even the size of a dust mite.
