Fear...

Postby Inu » Tue Jan 22, 2008 9:09 am

It is funny that fear as simple as an emotion (if it can be called that) can create such chaos to the mind. It has been said that it is a great motivator of men, and truely can anyone argue that otherwise? The fear of losing something as precious as life has often swayed the course of any battle. I think as strong a sense that fear can create compells people to do things that they would not normally do. For example, often the fear, of losing that person in your life that you care most for, may have you wanting to be around them always, eventually, causing them to grow apart from you. In a fight, there may be a time when you feel as though you are going to die, this consumes your thoughts and being that you no lomger considering the fighting you are taken from this world. And the greatest thing about this is that there is truely nothing to fear, that through God all things are possible, and that truely being his children we are going to be ok. No matter how everything works out, if we choose to listen and follow him, it will be what is best for us. We just have to trust him and understand its going to be all right. Just thoughts...

Fear is a very scary/intimidating thing u_u Like you said, all we can do is trust in God that he'll make everything alright :) Everyone has some sort of fear. Some big, some small. Some overwhelming, some not so overwhelming. We just have to work with God to rid ourselves of it :)

Am I going on and on o.o

BTW: Welcome to the Forums, Inu :)

Fear is what either drives men to insanity or motivation...for many people, it can even make you turn to God (ie. Fear of hell or fear of not knowing God)...so then when is that we let fear control us that fear is no longer a motivation, that is when fear is destructive.

For instance, i think it is healthy to fear a gun, meaning lets not go up to the gun, shoot ourselves to see what happens...so then there is a type of fear that can also be respect wise as well...such as fear of God.

Just some thoughts of my own inu ^_^

We tend to associate emotions with good and evil. Hate and fear and anger are evil emotions while love and joy are good emotions.

That's not really a good way to look at it. Emotions are neither good nor evil, they simply are. What we must do is learn to control our emotions - nurture the positive aspects of the emotion while eliminating the negative or destructive aspects of it.

For example, if I do not HATE what is evil, then that evil can gain a foothold in my life.
If I do not FEAR the Lord, then I will not see the need to follow His will.

Fear is a wonderful motivator just as is hate and love. Within their proper context, emotions do not oppose each other but work together to make us well-balanced, reasonable people ready to serve God.

When Alexander The Great was meeting with some Celtic ambassadors he asked them,"What do you fear?"their reply was:
"We fear only that the sky fall and crush us,that the earth open and swallow us,that the sea rise and overwhelm us."

Fear is a wonderful emotion that drives the economy of all scary movies, roller coasters and the gun industry! Without fear, we could make a silly and strange argument that the economy would crash! err... What were we talking about though? If you don't mind me asking, was there a question that you wanted us to consider or did you just want us to dwell on fear? (I guess its better to dwell on fear then to dwell in fear... I mean, its always better to stand on top of something then to be swallowed by anything ;) )

The basic difference between being an ordinary person and a hero is that a hero will face their fears and not let their fears control them.

At the time that I wrote this the idea was merely dwelling on fear as I am going through some thing that I have been afraid of... Well at this distinct moment I am doing better with it as I have come to grips with it, and continuing to search out God seems to be helping more. It is kind of a funny thing but the best thing for me at this point is merely being present, and understanding that it is either going to work out the way that I want it too, or it wont. Understanding that regardless life will continue on and how i react to the things that happen to me, are what define me. I am starting to understand that I have made my decisions in life and being they are my decisions, why should i live with regret, even if life does not work out the way that I want... Otherwise I could be afraid of making a right or wrong decision based on other peoples expectations, and then find out that the decision that I made was not my own... Where as if I choose my own path, regardless of what other people think, life may not go the way that I want it too but I have done what I wanted to, and felt that it is what I wanted to do so there should be no room for well what if i had done this... Granted there maybe a time when everyone thinks this, but I would rather say that the choices I make now are my own, and this is the choice that I would have made again given the chance. It is funny what fear, confusion and doubt can do to you, rob you of happiness and your piece of mind, these things I am asking God to help me rid these of myself, so that I can be clear, of these plagues (in a sense of the word).

Just some verses if anyone is struggling with fear:

The Lord is my refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. - Psalm 46:1

and Psalm 23 is alwayz a good one.

But anyways:
Whenever I think of the word fear I always think of Chairman Durrandall's (spelling?) speech on Logo's now. Guess it comes from watching Gundam SEED Destiny too much. >.< But anyways if you know the series he has this long speech about fear and it really impacted me, even though its just from an anime. But what he said has already been stated above basically if a person is told danger is near they freak out and become suspicious of everyone else. Just thinking...
Status: Lurker.... but I'll be around.
