Anybody looking forward to 2008?

Postby Gabriel 9.0 » Tue Dec 25, 2007 8:49 pm

Since its coming in a few more days. What is everybody's plans for 2008? Mine are simple, get further in college. Finish become a carpenter, keep on resisting the enemy's temptations to not save myself before marriage and other negative concepts with God's assistance. Finish my first book in my future series of books that will hopefully become video games, films, etc to honor and promote God in the media franchise. And relax. And also continue to grow even more spiritually with God.
Some of my favorite scriptures.

Psalm91
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Hebrews 4-4
1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

James 4
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Revelation 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Well Im going to go through my second semester as a junior. Man, I hope I do better in Chemistry and AP Lit this year. Its just hard, and all those other classes I have to contend with. Here comes Crime and Punishment just around the corner, please pray for me in hopes that I will understand the book.(My teacher said it was long and hard, so that coming from her is not a good sign that it might even be considered an easy read. I mean we just finished the Scarlet Letter and two of Shakespeare's plays. How much more complicated can it get?! But there's always something more difficult. Man, Im just terrible, if I can't servive this AP class how will I fare in college?!) So I have quite a handful this next year.

I'm ALWAYS hoping to grow in spirit and maturity, so that's pretty high on the list for '08. I'm also hoping that the webcomic I've been tinkering with for AGES will finally be ready to go online by the start of the year. Oh, and, um, to finally get a stinking driver's license...

My goals for Twenty hundred and eight are quite a few.

1. To find a place for myself both externally and internally. Including finding my self-image again, which I lost this year.

2. To get in contact with an aspie girl within my city limits and try to meet her in person, and if that doesn't go well, to continue my search for RL friends. Although I can happily say I've found some RL friends at GRASP (my local aspie group) so I can at least be assured that 08 will start on a positive note for me there.

3. To get through my last year of high school and from there I pray I'll have some path to go to from there. *is not anticipating college in the slightest*

4. To find someway to boost my self-esteem to normal levels and keep it there. I already went through dozens of heartaches and one near death experience this year that I would honestly like to find a way just to cheer up a bit.

5. Lastly, my spirituality, as usual, is in need of some major reassurance and "cleaning up". Where, when, and how I'll help myself here remains unknown to me, but I hope to find something when it comes. I've really felt spiritually dead for the past sixth months and I'd really like to break out of that pattern.

I wish I could say the same. While early 07 was generally normal for me (I did come to CAA in April after all. That has to count for something.), it all became a nightmare for me after summer.

I really pray that things go a lot better next year, or as I said, to some "normal" level.

*feels like he's rambling on about himself*

Edit: Scratch a little bit of that note. Things have recently gotten a bit better for me, possibly substantially if you were to ask someone outside of my own mind. I was able to find a way to keep my basic needs in order and that was a miracle in itself for me, so I should say the end of 07 had a small, very dim, but warm light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm kinda looking forward to it...I guess...

My plans for 2008 (God willing)
-- graduate high school (which I will obviously be doing since I hate it anyway)
-- actually finish short stories and begin the novel I have been holding off for a while
--enjoy the last moments of adolescence before turning adult
--savor the last months before college
--actually apply for scholarships (I HATE essays)
--save some extra money for miscellaneous things for college
-- get a job that I'll enjoy*ehem*
--become a better artist
--get back at my junior friend before graduating (a prank she and this other girl played on me)
--stop procrastinating

Spiritually:
--regain my quiet time with God
--manage stress
--be less talk and more action

2007 was mostly fail, so I hope 2008 will be full of win.

I plan to live, love, and eat. Other than that, I don't know. Finishing my book before the end of '08 would be nice, but I somehow doubt that's gonna happen. Hopefully, getting married will happen somewhere in there.

Here are my plans for the new year of 2008:

New Year's Resolution
Try to stop being so hard on myself for every little thing

Goals
-Get through the rest of my freshman year
-Get a job
-Save up for that Steinburg Virtual Guitarist synthesizer and actually buy it (I can't stand the waiting part of saving up T_T )
-Start taking Japanese in the fall at my school
-Go to my first anime con (Only God knows where or when that will be...)
-Try to keep my New Year's resolution :P
-Try to at least continue working on ONE of my stories that I've started (I've started TONS of stories, but I tend to get bored with them and move on to other projects as soon as I get another idea...I'm weird that way.)

And as far as I know, that's about it.
RESPECT THE UNBORN AND CHOOSE LIFE...your mother did.

2007 was terrible for me. Well, for the most part.

Here's to a good year in '08, and pray I can actually stick to my commitments this time around. =/

Augh, I can't believe it's almost the new year already. . . where has the year gone. . .

The only resolution I make is to not make resolutions, cause then I just feel like a failure when I don't keep them, lol. I'm just gonna see what comes and do the best I can with it. :)
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

I know! it's gone by so fast.

I am looking forward to it, just because there's a lot going on in my life right now and I'm curious to see how God will work it all out and where He's going to lead me.

I'm so flippen' excited for 2008 that I can burst!

For one, I finally escape that swarming vortex of torment! ...Err...I mean high school... ;)

I might even be salutatorian (as long as I don't get a spelling test with that word on it...).

Then I'm going to take a gap year abroad on an exchange program. I don't know where I'm going yet, but for my top five, I put Japan, Italy, Spain, Belgium, and Brazil.

Also, 2008 is when I get all the acceptance (or rejection...) letters from college.

It's also when I can get that FAFSA thingy out of the way.

I'll turn 18 and not have to run back to mommy for signatures every two seconds. And I can finally open a bank account instead of trying to hold onto cash while my mom guilts me every two seconds for a "loan" (translation=I'll never see that money again and I better not dare ask for it).

I hope that I can be stronger and more independent in 2008. And smarter, I always want to be smarter.

I want to work on being healthier too. (yep...that'll last...)
I believe in the sun even if it isn't shining. I believe in love even when I am alone. I believe in God even when he is silent.

Well since this is a resolution thread, I need to post mine I suppose, ne?

A resolution I've been working on, all year but will probably be able to finish in 2008:

My entire life, I've always been "The overweight" kid in the class...I wasn't TERRIBLY obese or anything...(I think the most I ever weighed was 240is and I am hovering around 200 now YEY) ANYWAYS for my entire teenage years, I always felt a bit... isolated because of my weight...I never really had a lot of confidence, and I still don't.

In May, C.T., Girl talked me into trying this vegetarian diet thing. Although I am not a total vegan, as I still eat fish and chicken from time to time, I have totally cut red meat and pork from my diet, and I eat mostly veggies and the like. That is the main reason I have lost so much weight.

My goal is to "Lose Weight in '08!" I will be at or around 150 pounds by My 24th! My 20th birthday! Seriously! I wasted my teen years feeling like a second-class citezen. I am not gonna let that happen to my 20s! *determination* I want to be healthier too, and more active!

So far, my exercise regiment includes: Dancing to the Hare Hare Yukai dance 1-2 times daily. I also do some really stupid looking exercises that I won't even explain because they are kinda stupid XD
~~

I also seriously want to go closer to God. He should be the reason why I live...and I need to treat Him as such. Better quiet times and prayer times are a MUST.
~~

I want to continue Stick Monkey Chronicles and get as far as I can with it! ^_^; I probably won't finish the series in 2008, but I would like to get a couple of chapters done... and improve my skills while I am at it!

Soo yeah..these are things that I know I can accomplish with lots of dedication, prayer and determination.

Pray for me! ^_^; I am taking 18 credit hours this semester on top of my editor's position on our school paper.. @.@ my free time will be GONE. I hope my artwork, or my goals don't suffer...

Ruby, the FAFSA thing can be a pain in the neck, but remember it's your ticket to getting your college paid for! Let me know if you need any help (This is my 4th year in college, so I have to fill out that thing every year).

My goals are:
To also lose weight (see my update thread in the Prayer Room). I was a size 12 last Spring, but now I can barely fit in a size 16 pair of jeans...:( I just want to get back to the size 12 --I had a lot more energy and I just felt a heck of a lot better mentally and physically. My plan is to cut out soda completely and turn dessert into an occasional thing instead of every day (multiple times a day). I will also drink a lot of water (my friend Mandy lost a LOT of weight by drinking a ton of water --a half gallon a day --she had to pee a lot but the weight dropped). I have a half-gallon water bottle and my goal is to drink the whole thing every day. I already don't eat fast food --my stomach can't take greasy food...
I also hope to be more of a risk taker --(Someone told me that I had so much potential and that I should not be so afraid to take risks). I hope I can get my small group Bible study started (I'm "supposed" to be a small group leader for international students, but I didn't exactly get it started last semester --guess I was afraid of rejection if I asked students to come over...) I pray I will be more bold in my faith. There are lost people on my campus who are dying inside and are looking for someone just to care. I have to remember I don't have all the time in the world --Jesus is coming back.
I'm also hoping to be able to share my testimony in my Sunday School class at church. I'm also trying to get a support group on Facebook for survivors of child abuse off the ground. I have one member, and I posted about the group in Child Abuse groups, but I'm not sure what else to do... (I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing most of the time :) )
It'd be cool to pick my painting back up (I paint crafts). I have a key holder that I started my Sophomore year that I put aside since then. I really need to finish it...
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

My New Year's Resolution Is...

Well, like Kit-Chan, I'm...on the overweight side. Also, being my first year in public school since fourth grade, it hasn't been a completely pleasant experience. (I lost 22+ pounds since August! Yay!)

So, my Rezz is to lose weight, gain more balance, start on my novel again, get better at my art, have better relations with God, my family, and my friends...

My regiment consists of the Hona Sainara dance (for balance), multiple other dances, and running to my classes at school. It helps me (the last one) because my 5th, 6th, and 7th classes are at complete polar opposite sides of my rather large school =__=

...and have more toast-related things. Toast is good. XD

For the Weight Loss resolutionaires: I will be pming you! ^_^ Let's encourage each other! :D

Sheena: I am going to try that half gallon a day water thing... but keep in mind: WASH THOSE BOTTLES OUT! D8 I have heard of people getting quite sick because of bacteria for not washing thier water bottles out...and reusing them. I never thought of it before, but bacteria THRIVES in water that isn't cold or hot enough, and it could take all day to drink a half gallon of water. ^^;

XD it's funny I am a size 18 (ALMOST ABLE TO FIT INTO 16s!) and my goal is 12 too! XD I haven't worn a size twelve...gosh...since 7th or 8th grade at least...maybe even 6th...O_o;

maan that's depressing to think about XD

YAY, Hana! LETS DO IT!

by eating whole grain wheat toast and I Can't believe it's not butter SPRAY! :D (0 grams of fat, colestoral and not a whole lot of caleries)

Try to be more spontaneous when it gets to buying and watching anime for one thing.I think I will stop trying to make lists of what I would like to
buy and see and simply go with the flow from now on.

I'd also like to find a significant other that does not have whiskers and a tail.

I'll be:
-graduating from high school
-starting college
-getting my license
-working on my stories once college things are out of the way
-enjoying what's left of my senior year
-going more in depth with God's Word
-turning eighteen

Yeah, a lot of big things are going to happen to me this year, and I hope it all turns out well. ^_^

I'm glad 2007 is almost over, because it was filled with drama and stress.

I will be:

- Attempting to write in a paper journal every day
- Finally learn to deal with problems myself and quit whining at anyone who will listen
- Continuing to try and gain the courage to talk to people
- Trying to become one heck of a lot more epic at drawing
- Finally learning to play guitar (maybe?)
- Find some kind of way to justify my existence (translation: volunteering someplace.)

I am trying to be more laid back and easy-going about life and such. I feel this urge to rush things I shouldn't rush. So that's one goal, to let God time things and to just go with it.

Though I do have some stuff I want to do in 08 and some stuff I want to happen

Stuff that I want to happen but aren't really important in life

Jimmie Johnson crashes Jeff Gordon (or Vis Versa) and Hendrick doesn't dominate

Mark Martin wins a race

The Broncos rock the NFL

Windows Vista dies in a puddle of gooey computer code and XP rebounds

Mac OS X gets better

iPhone isn't only for AT&T (yes I know this won't happen)

Stuff I want to do that will not effect how good my life is, but I want to do anyway

Buy a UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) for work

Fix up my truck and make it look good

Learn to keep a clean room <.< >.>

Get my WoW character to level 70 and get epic gear

Stuff I want to do that will effect my life

Go back to school

Learn more new stuff on my own

Learn to immerse myself in the Word more

Work on my attitude about the way things go and how I interact with people

My dream for the new year that I know will never happen

Microsoft goes belly up and Linux and Unix become mainstream
A nightingale in a golden cage
That's me locked inside reality's maze
Come someone make my heavy heart light
Come undone, bring me back to life
It all starts with a lullaby

Yes! I totally agree! Just when I finally get to being able to use the XP version of Microsoft Office, my whole school switches to Vista! Now I am having to learn programs all over again! (Since the new programs are completely different in layout from the older ones). :mutter: Die Vista, die!

Anyway, another goal of mine for 2008 is to be a much better steward of money. Cause I'm not a very good one right now. *Wonders why I bought all that stuff around Christmas and this week at the mall when I have books to buy for classes*

My only resolutions are those to keep my commitments--
Quit self-injury and (try) to quit M, giving it up to God
And of course, getting more in-touch with the Word and making my worship worth something.
More later, I need to think XD

not really. I mean. To me, it's just another year of my life. No year to me is better than another because each year has its ups and downs. As for new years resolutions. Never did them. I never saw the point. Why put off soemthing til next years resolution if you do it now. I figure if there's something to change then it'll come to my attention and happen when it needs to. But, then my family never really explained much about new years resolutions so maybe i'm like way off on what I think of em. eh. whatever. My husband arrives home tomorrow. so if he gets in late enough he will be here new years, which would be the reason that I look forward to the new year.

Not sure. There's not really anything to look forward to, that I am aware of.

The following are not resolutions. Rather, they are things that I am currently working on, and that I hope to make progress on.

1. To become more at ease with myself and being single. In the last year I've really improved in this aspect.

2. Deal with my lust problems and figure out how to tame my drive. This is almost always an ups and downs thing, but I hope to cope with it more consistently this year.

3. Cosplay. I've been wanting to do this for some time, but it keeps on falling through.

4. Play more video games. 2007 was an excellent gaming year, but I have fallen far behind. I need to catch up.

5. Work on my storytelling abilities. Always a work in progress.

6/ As always, grow stronger in Christ. The latter portion of this year was amazing for me in this respect, and I hope to continue this in the new year.

If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things."

I also plan to work on other stories after I finish my first book in one of my major series, anything through God is possible. I fully trust he'll help me do this and other things for him:thumb:.
Some of my favorite scriptures.

Psalm91
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
