I live my life fairly conservatively (no drinking, smoking, etc), but fall *very* far left on economic/environmental/social issues, and very libertarian on civil liberty issues.

Politically agnostic, but tending toward conservative because of my 4 strongest beliefs

1. I believe Homosexuality is wrong, but shouldn't be legislated... at all...
2. I believe Abortion is completely wrong, at the very latest once the different systems develop in a fetus, and I'm fuzzy on anything before that, but I'm also against the harvesting of embryos, because that just brings it a lot farther...
3. I by no means support everything that Israeli extremists do, but by and large the palestinians are a lot worse, and their leadership have been more "destroy them all and remove them, and do so with suicide if need be" whereas the Israelis have been "Keep Jerusalem and some land" and yet the Israeli government has time and time again handed off land to them bit by bit... I've watched PLO propaganda movies, including the PLO Mickey Mouse, where they idolize a woman suicide bomber and get kids to chant her praises with them. So, yeah...
4. I'm in support of private and home education. Parents should have a right how to train their children, and I think the state of school in the US is abysmal and throwing more money at it won't help because it has a shoddy foundation to begin with, and children at private schools and homeschoolers tend to score better in tests and Parents get to monitor what they're being taught. I think the smear campaign against these schools is sickening.

We should probably avoid specific issues, as that is most likely to cause an argument. This is hardly your fault, as we hadn't said this yet, but I think it would be for the best if people just voted or posted to qualify their answers.

I voted Centrist simply because that is where my views best line up.

I used to be more interested in politics when I was younger, but I got frustrated with not seeing myself in a position to change much as a high school student while I wanted a lot of what I saw going on in my state/country to change. Unless I have an indirect reason to take an interest in politics or have a reason to think I may be able to do something about it, I am in practice rather apolitical. I am more interested in understanding theoretical issues involved than in current events. There is so much that I do not know and I know that because of that, my views will change with time. Aside from one or two issues, I do only occasionally go out of my way to learn about politics or current events. I am trying to pay more attention to this as of late.

I don't know exactly where I stand. I am registered as an independant. I identify more with just to the left of center. I am biased against (and please recognize that my limited sources of political awareness may influence this) against the far right wing because I don't see much being brought up about some of the issues that I care about. This makes me more interested in identifying with the left, because some of those issues come up more. If I keep listening to a certain Christian political radio show, I may find myself identifying with slightly more conservative perspectives on some things, but I don't think I could identify as highly conservative on certain issues. I am also interested in doing some reading what it means for Christians to be the salt of the earth and how that sort of idea has historically influenced or not influenced Christian involvement in politics and government. I would also like to learn more about the historic thinking about the relationship between the government and the people, especially with regards to the United States and how such thinking would apply to the modern US.

Bottom line is probably I am a moderate with some learning I would like to do before finalizing some of my positions. I may also be more conservative than I think since I am a member of a generaly very conservative website. Also, I understand that the center of the country has moved right since Reagan, so historically I would be more conservative than I am.

isn't it best to be leaning towards what aspects of the parties you agree with, coinciding with God's word?
What I mean is, each party has their own aspects which definately are not part of God's word. So do you merely choose your party by what you feel most passionately about, by what 'parts of the bible you believe' (not keen on picking and chosing myself...) or what?
From another standpoint, entirely non-biblical do you vote for parties who have the power, or parties who obviously don't have the power but have the right ideas (for instance the green party in canada). Also, not sure what USA is like so politics is difficult, I have a feeling we aren't talking about Canadian politics though ^^

If we lived in a perfect world, I'd likely be a socialist. But I find the government to be the poorest of all institutions when it comes to dealing with the actual needs of the people. The private sector – businesses and churches and communities – does a much better job than the central government at meeting the needs of the people in their communities. For that reason, I am the exact opposite of a socialist, as it is defined as a political movement.

Left and Right are hard for me, as are Conservative and Liberal. In Pakistan, I am a Liberal. In England, I am a Conservative. In the US, I am a Moderate. I am registered as a Republican, but not because I think the Republicans are better or more capable to lead, but because I feel my vote means more in a Republican primary than a Democratic one.

The key here is I do not; I can not define myself by someone else’s definitions. I must, if I am to remain true to my calling, be a “conservative” when the “conservatives” a right with an issue and be a “liberal” when the liberals are right. A part of the problem with politics today (and as far as I can tell, this is a problem in every democracy) is we all choose sides. The side we are on does no wrong while the other side does no right. This must not be. God’s Truth does not change and when someone is right, we must support that decision. When someone is wrong, we must oppose it.

If it is not a matter of right and wrong, then I ask myself, “Is this something we really need the government to do or is it something we are better off taking care of ourselves?”
