Katsucon

I know, I know. Since Christmas has been inconsiderate enough to hog most of our plan making energies, it's probably a little early to do this. Still, I thought I'd go ahead and try to get the attention of anyone planning to go to Katsucon in February. I THINK I'll be going (like I said, Christmas is hogging my plan making energies right now) and I wanted to see who'd be interested in some kind of meet up/prayer meeting/Bible study/something like we TRIED to do for Anime USA.

*bump*

...well, I know for sure that I'm going, now; my room and everything is all worked out.

So, is ANYONE else going to Katsucon this year?

I have yet to pre-reg but I am planning on attending. If I go I'll be cosplaying as Gendo. Hope to see you there! Are you cosplaying?

Yeah! I'm gonna be Matt from Digimon season 2, and hopefully Stoner from Eureka 7 and Dominic Deegan from the webcomic of the same name. I'm not sure what costume will be for what day, though.

But yeah, since Katsucon has actually been in the same convention center, I can ask if anyone knows a good time and place to try and get people together. Wandering around looking for each other's costumes... kinda didn't work at AUSA

And, speaking of which, anyone else gonna be there?

So, I'm trying to think of something that would be good as a good "CAA HERE" signal, something that'd work better than just trying to remember who's cosplaying what (again, it worked so well at AUSA). Obviously, a big "CAA!!!" sign would be ideal, but you know how much conventions LOVE people carying signs around the halls :)

Back from Katsu, Day One. In a surprising twist of events, the Pre-Registration line was moving like pond water -- one estimate is that it was a one-and-one-half-hour wait -- but the OnSite Registration line flew (it took me ten minutes, start to finish). Somebody has their priorities backwards, but, oh, well...

Dealer's Room was about the same as it has been for the past couple years, although I thought that fewer people were selling DVDs -- and the DVDs that were there were at bargain prices. Sign of the times.

Went to the AMV Panel and watched (once again) "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time". Crowd was very pleased with the latter.

Back tomorrow for the AMV Contest, a bunch of panels, and more shopping...

Day Two. Good AMV contest, probably the smoothest run and most entertaining I've seen yet (including 15 minutes of crazy Japanese game shows and commercials to fill the time prior to the start).

Panel on "Anime You Should Be Watching" was good, got some tips on titles I'm not too familiar with, will be putting them on my ever-growing "to view" list.

Saw "Paprika", crowd seemed to appreciate this one as well (although many still left confused -- as I always am when it comes to his films -- as to what Satoshi Kon was up to).

Not going back tomorrow, so that does it for another year. The con season begins anew with Otakon this Summer...
