This movie is awesome. It's a Tim Burton version of Sondheim's classic musical. It's rated R because of violence, and if you've seen the musical before, you know what kind it is. But still, it was a great movie.

I'm seeing this today. Or rather, tonight. Read the reviews and it's good to know Mr. Burton hasn't totally lost his touch.

Never saw the musical, but I like to be surprised.

It's on my To Watch list, but my mom read an article in the paper and was vocally disgusted by it (fair enough), so I doubt I'll be catching it with my parents.

I just watched through it. It was pretty good but it really made me angry, probably in the right ways. It was interesting to see how the typical Tim Burton themes of political corruption and class warfare played out in this film. It was like, in a world where the rich devour the poor to bolster themselves, Sweeny Todd and his accompices discover that the road to economic success in the meatpie and barber business in industrialized capitalist London is to adopt tactics of cutthroat competition, corner novel and inexpensive sources of exotic meats, and industrialize the manufacturing process. I second what the others said, this movie is rather bloody, and besides which is filled with a good deal of macabre black humor. The whole thing is like The Barber of Seville gone horribly wrong and turned into a tragi-comedy of innocence lost.

Just got back from seeing it. And while being crammed in a room full of teenagers is usually not a pleasant experience, everyone was extremely polite. There was no talking. I was surprised.

The movie itself was very, very good. The acting and songs are well done, the cinematography is excellent, and the length is perfect. I would definitely watch it again.

I just got back from seeing it. It was quite amazing. After the movie, I went straight to Best Buy to purchase the soundtrack. I hope to see it again soon.

Just noticed this post. Thought I'd add that while the movie is pretty violent, I'm as squeamish as they come and was (and am) perfectly fine. The blood is extremely stylized...almost pretty, actually. XD

To be honest I wasn't that scared either. Knowing Tim Burton, Sweeney Todd was just the usual, stylized blood and violence in Sleepy Hollow, etc.

Yeah saw it last night and to be honest i wasn't a huge fan i thought it was kinda well pointless. Some parts were kinda funny (The elixer part) and other than that even though the blood was very stylized i still found it rather disturbing. I might give it another shot later down the road but *shrugs* as of now i give it 2 and a half stars

I saw this last night as well but over all I enjoyed it. I'm not a huge fan of musicals though so I was getting a little bored at the beginning particularly anything with the guy on the street and Joanna sining. As it picked up though I really liked it though. I actually thought the blood was going to be different based on what I read (I was expecting em to be more like the last two necks slashed in the movie.... flowing/dripping blood rather than spraying blood)

I do wish a more stylized director would come along that wasn't quite so dark. Tim Burton is probably my favorite director but it would be nice to see some lighter stylized stories rather than the typical gloomy dark tim burton fare.

I loved it, honestly. It will be one of the very few movies I liked enough to actually buy on DVD. Incidentally, I'm not even a musical fan.
