Airsoft guns?

Postby heero yuy 95 » Sun Dec 02, 2007 8:15 pm

Heya, guys. Anyone of you into airsoft guns? A couple of my friends got airsoft guns from Wal-Mart, and they have a blast. One of my friends knows a guy who has lots of land, so we could have epic battles. Any of you guys do this? And if so, is it epic fun? I've gone paintballing before, but not this. Also, what are some good recommendations for guns? Is Wal-mart okay, or would Acedemy be better? I've got a job and i'm getting some $$$ for Christmas, so i can splurge a little. And btw, do you have to be 18 to buy one?

In California, yes the age minimum is 18. I am not sure if it is a state thing or a federal law.

Wal-Mart and sporting goods stores (Sports Authority, Big 5, etc) typically sell only the lowest-end guns. While that's all well and fun for simple play, those types are... prone to damage. On the other end of the spectrum are guns from the likes of Tokyo Marui (which can resemble real guns in all ways except the actual action (duh)), but those can be quite pricey--even the spring-air pistols can set you back $100 or more. Those you can only find online or at a store that specifically deals with Airsoft.

There are paintballs for Airsoft pistols. DON'T buy those. They easily break while inside the gun. Damage related to paintballs are not covered by the gun's warranty.

I've been rather intrigued by airsoft guns recently. I nearly bought one but haven't yet as I don't have many friends that have them and I'm not sure how much I'd use it. If I did buy one I'd want a decent quality piece and something that was a fairly close replica of a real gun, probably a pistol. I understand spring guns are very reliable but it would be sweet to have at least a semi-auto (spring guns are all single-action, right?). Maybe I'm just spoiled from playing FPS's...?

Airsoft wars are fun, especially since they're usually just slow enough that I can watch and dodge them. : D

I've already bought three. and yes, airsoft wars are epic, not quite as fun as paintballing, but a fun little way to spend a couple of hours if you're really bored. I bought one of my guns at walmart, and the other two at Ace hardware. Both the same brand, yeah, they be prettly cheaply made, and the range/accuracy sucks, but they can still peg my friends. XD

I have 2, but haven't been in any large scale wars. Most of the people I had shootouts with aren't around where I live anymore.

I have been very happy with the airsoft gun that I have. It is a spring powered replica of the Sig Sauer P226 pistol. It holds 12 shots and has very good range and accuracy. You probably won't be able to dodge a shot from one of those pistols. You have to load the spring before every shot, which puts you at a disadvantage against full autos. It makes up for it, however, by being much more accurate. I got mine from a sporting goods store.

I own a gas powered .357 Revolver Magnum replica. It only holds 6 shots, but it did come with a quick loader, and it's pretty powerful and accurate. I got mine from a local paintball and airsoft shop.

me and friends do this. We have a few squads, and my squad rocks. I may be the worst person on the team. One of us is currently Military. Another is going into the Military, and is quite well acquainted with warfare tactics {so much so that the military one among us is constantly impressed}. One of us is me, and the other is a Speed Ball player. He Runs viciously fast, and shoots a great deal, very very fast. We play woodsball, so we didn't know if he would be really great, but he is one of the best. He surprised me on the first game we ever played together. The Military friend of mine, and him, were on the opposite team from me, and it was really dark {11:30 out in the woods}. The Military friend and I were sort of stuck in a strange 50/50. As soon as Dave, the speedball player figured that out, he rushed me. I shot, and he shot. Two shots to my neck, and both of mine just happened to miss, or rickeshay off of his shoulder. I was impressed. I'm more of the sniping kind, but I don't get enough practice. We play with other pretty good squads too though.

The squads are supposed to be fairly evenly split up. There are obviously some players who stand out over time. The military player in My Squad, and the only real Sniper on another, are probably the most vicious among us. They don't get hit, they rush, they hit hard and fast, and they kill everyone.

We do this with Land one of us owns. We camp for a weekend, and just play Paintball all day.. Yeah, it's paintball though. Paintball is better, as far as I'm concerned, but I know there are those who have their contentions.

It costs a lot of money unless you have some really dedicated members. It's loads of fun, but you have to learn to never let yourself get shot, and accept getting shot as soon as you've been hit.

I don't know enough about Airsoft guns.. but if you decide to go with Paintball guns, the BT4's are incredible. They are better than the Tipman A5's {even though Tipman doesn't want you knowing that}. You have to buy equipment though. Scopes are good, as are stocks I guess.

Anyways, I can't help you with Airsoft.. but if you want to talk Paintball, just let me know.

Nice! I didn't know this many people were into it. Yeah, mainly it's just me and my crew, we know a guy who lives by a big empty place of land, and we go have epic battles. We only use the cheapo wal-mart guns, but it's still a blast.

I own a gas powered .357 Revolver Magnum replica. It only holds 6 shots, but it did come with a quick loader, and it's pretty powerful and accurate. I got mine from a local paintball and airsoft shop.

Lucky, wish I lived near one. v__v

There's really not any practical way for me to do any Airsoft skirmishing, due to college, but I really like the concept, having tried paintball and found it lacking. One of these days I'll have to get into it.

My brother has a pump action airsoft gun. mock up of a Mossberg(sp?) I believe.

I want the minigun airsoft gun, shoots like 50 rounds a second or some sick rate like that.

I love airsofting.

I have an AK-74 Beta Tactical Spetsnaz shooting 400 FPS out of the box, along with my Spets uniform and Tactical Vest, with 2 back up magazines, each mag holding 600 rounds. My brother has an M4A1 collapsible stock, which he's selling for a G36C. My backup weapon is a CQB G3.

I also have a Gas-Blowback Glock 26, but it's kinda glitchy.

My friend's loadout include, G36C, Wooden M14, M16-A2, M4A1, Spring Sniper Rifle, and an AK-47.

I live about 30 minutes from an airsoft field, and my backyard is a warzone, so I have my fun.

I've spent at least 100 hours working on my backyard, digging foxholes mostly, and getting cover.

Squadwise, my friend and I usually take charge of 3 man squads, our actual "team" being 8 people total.

I'm very knowledgeable when it comes to airsofting, where to buy from, and where to get the best bang for your buck, so feel free to ask any questions.

Primary advice: Don't ever buy an airsoft gun from walmart. They're far too pricey, all unreliable, and just not worth it.

And if you plan on getting a decent electric airsoft gun, plan on spending at least $75.
