Batman anime in the works

Postby Cognitive Gear » Fri Dec 07, 2007 9:23 pm

A new Batman animated OVA, done in the style of anime, is in the works.

Guys, it's Batman. What more do you need to know?

If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. NO WAY.

AWESOME. *DODGES FLYING BATARANGS* Seriously, even if it sucks, it will rock. I hope it's not cartoony kiddy, but gets the nitty gritty of Batman, Dark Knight style (except none of this 50-year-old man stuff). Batman Begins style is good too.

Lots of my friends and I have longed for the day that Young Justice (90s teen superhero comic with Robin, Superboy, Impulse and others) gets a REAL JAPANESE ANIME. I wish it would happen.

This might actually be interesting. I wonder how they're going to portray the villains? Joker already looks like a complete psychotic psychopath...

Scan.

This is being directed by Bruce Timm, and animated by Studio 4ºC, Production I.G and Madhouse.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to see this.

THE Bruce Timm?

Ohhhhhhh my goodness. This is definitely going to give some stiff competition to the classic 91' cartoons now.

As long as Jeff Matsuda doesn't go anywhere near this version, it'll rock. (He draws the current version. In my opinion, he's ruined it)

Having taken a better look at the site... their intended audience is "core and tweens." Everyone here is the former, but how good can a series intended for the latter be? Also, I hate the word "tweens." This makes me mildly nervous; I half-expect "POW! WHIFFO!" except with a lower frame rate and a flashing background.

I wouldn't think too much of it. The entire DCAU (Batman, Superman, Batman Beyond, Justice League/JLU) was aimed at that audience but with a sizable number of older fans tuning in as well. And Bruce Timm is a really good director.

Plus, I think it's going to rated PG-13...

No. See my prior post for information regarding that (it's "Child of Dreams," for the record).

PG13 is a bit more promising. I guess I have an unduly low opinion of the "tween" crowd.

It has a wonderful storyline and the twist and turns make it something that really grabs you.
