Death in the family

Postby Mithrandir » Fri Nov 16, 2007 11:23 pm

Hi guys,

As some of you know, my father's mother passed away last week. I've been having to deal with the travel, organization, emotional roller-coaster, etc. I wanted to thank those of you who have been praying for our family, and to let you know I'm back home safe and sound.

Welcome back Mith. I hope and pray everything is going well for you.
Some of my favorite scriptures.

Psalm91
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Hebrews 4-4
1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

James 4
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Revelation 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

I am very sorry to hear that. My prayers go out for you and your family.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge

Death happens.Part of life. The harder thing though is when the person who died is young, then it is hard to think about. When it's someone who has lived their full share of four score etc,all we can do is be happy for them.

Ok. Listen. Consider this your final warning for posting ignorant things on CAA ML. I don't know if you mean to come off as a jerk, but you do. If you have nothing more to add to a thread about praying for someone grieving than this, shut your mouth. If posts like these keep up, we may begin striking these offenses.

Thanks, everyone. My family is doing well. A bunch of us got together again last week for Thanksgiving, and it was a great time. Mostly I've been concerned for my father, and he seems to be doing very good, all things considered.

Again, thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
