It was a few days before my thirteenth birthday, and I was looking for a forum to join. I look for "christian anime forum" and found this pretty quickly. Then I waited patiently for about four days, and joined the day of my birthday.

So, I'm probably the youngest one here right now, and I'm not really that well known here yet, but ya'll will get to know me with time.

Yeah. If that didn't come out right, sorry. I should be sleeping, way to late for me to be on a forum.

If I recall correctly, I was experimenting with Xanga at the time and came across a group consisting of forum members. I'd never come across a Christian anime community before, so after promptly Google searching "christian anime," I found my way here. :>

..And proceeded to lurk for two years. :|

heh, might as well reply here. Been a long time since i was here. thought this place disappeared.
DJnoz lead me this way a few yrs ago off another board. I was trying to learn color techniques cause 99% of what i drew was B&W. then for some reason the site wasn't coming up. We moved to a new house and it was months before i got back online. then a few months later we got a new PC. Then, well, we just moved this summer, again. And since winter is apon me and i'm starting to find my airbrush and markers (finally) this site crossed my mind so i did a search and bam...my username and PW still work...sweet.

That is SOOO cool! :thumb: I've been lugging around all the old pieces of this board for a while now, not trashing older accounts or deleting old posts, hoping that long-ago-people might decide to get back into it. It's really neat to see that some do! Yeah!!!!

I found this site while lurking through some cool old Theologyweb threads. Man, this site... turned me on... it was pretty cool.

So, since I love forums so much, and love anime so much, I decided that this forum was surely for me.

I then joined.

I was a fixture on TechTV's anime unleashed boards (as bobtheduck first, then I forgot my password and became bobtheduck2, then I forgot it again and was BobTheDuck3) and I started to get upset by the fact it seemed like all anime fans hated Christianity... So I looked up "Christian anime fans" on google, and found this site... That was back in 2003, shortly after this site was formed, so it was a matter of good timing.

Through my bro and Okami.
Some of my favorite scriptures.

Psalm91
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Hebrews 4-4
1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

James 4
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Revelation 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

I'm sorry, I have to ask, is this a common attitude? I mean, I can't think of any Christian I know of, level headed or not, who believes anime to be "bad" in any sense. I have heard the argument before that Japanese culture is Satanic, and anime is evidence, but never have I met anyone who attacks anime itself. Now, while I'm sure it exists, I'm new here and I've been reading through a few posts such as this, which seem, at least to me, to indicate that such a view might be more common than I had thought.

Has anyone ever come in contact with any Christians who were even in the least uneasy about anime in particular? If so, outside the United States, or just within?

First, note that Bobtheduck was talking about anime fans that hate Christianity, not the opposite. But that doesn't really answer your question.

I can't give you statistics, but I'd say that Christian dislike of anime is fairly common. Quite a few individuals say that the medium is almost entirely filled with inappropriate content. Far more common is viewing it as essentially juvenile. Then of course Plugged-In had this article that has been brought up here too many times:
