For intensive appliciations for creating animation, art, and music, I've heard that Apple is really the way to go. For casual users though, Microsoft still totally dominates.

Why is that, necessarily? Heck, many "casual users" do pretty well with Linux, for that matter.

I'm a bit more than casual and love Windows just fine. I haven't tried OSX.whatever or Linux yet, but I don't trust extreme mac fans on how great their OS is because the same fans were in celebration of the OS9.x versions, and they sucked.

I can't really rate linux fans, but then again, I'm too used to XP... When Windows comes out with the new version, I may swtich to Linux. By that time I should have enought HD space for a dual boot.
