I'm just wonderin' what was some of your first anime/mangas that you first encountered that actually wanted you to watch or know more about anime. I must admit the first anime/manga's I ever seen was Mega Man and Sailor Moon I saw stuff like robotech and guardians of the universe later on, but those were my firsts

The first anime that I encountered that actually made me want to know more about anime...I'd say Yu-Gi-Oh. Because I got the computer around that time, and was able to research more about other anime that I never got to without a computer. I also learned about some anime while being in the Yu-Gi-Oh fandom. And I bought my first Shonen Jump (which was the manga that made me want to get more manga) because of it too...which got me into the other anime/manga in there. ^_^ And it goes on....

The terrifying moldy bread incident! In elementary school, Yomi's leftover bread started rotting inside her desk! you can't imagine what happened! Not only that, but the mold had a will of its own, it was terrible! Barricading ourselves in the science prep room, we used spirit lamps and engaged in combat! Then I realized it!! If we only had the bottle of mildew remover from the bathroom, we could destroy them!!

Voltron. That was before I even knew what anime was. I just really liked the style of animation.

Transformers was my first anime ever, back when I was around 4. More recently what started me really getting into anime was Dragonball Z.

First of all, I'm glad to see that you're back, Chris4150. :)

My first anime was probably Transformers or Voltron; however, the first anime I saw knowing that it was anime was Iria: Zeiram the Animation.

My first anime was also probably Transformers since I was a crazed Transformers fan when I was little. However, I did not know back then it was anime.

The first time that I watched anime knowing that it was anime was the night before my first day at Georgia Tech. I watched Toonami's "Midnight Run" featuring DragonballZ and Gundam Wing.

Technically, it was Superbook. But by all pratical definitions (i.e. the series that I first saw that made me want to see more) was Ronin Warriors. I saw a bit of DBZ before, but RW was my first major series to fall in love with.

Sailor Moon, and it traumatized me to no end (I was, erm, 11, I think, though.) Pokemon, however, got me re-hooked, I guess, and I moved from there.

Years after Superbook, (and Flying House), I saw DBZ. I never got really hooked on the show, though, the anime that truly got me interested in the art form was Gundam Wing.

Superbook. I remember 'cause I thought the kid looked so funny eating a donut. You know how Strong Bad describes anime mouths...

Well the first one that I encountered was mega-man, but that didn't inspire me to want to watch other anime and magas, however. It was Dragonballz that got me going. I got enthralled in the action, and just couldn't get enough. Now I watch and read just about as many animes and mangas that I know, or have heard about!

After reading a bit about anime in college, I went down and bought a copy of Vampire Hunter D.

Wow... that is really cool. Did you get the original or Bloodlust?

My first anime was Sailor Moon. My first manga was Sailor Moon. My first fanfic was Sailor Moon (both reading it and writing it). Everything was Sailor Moon first. ^^

Although, Pokemon got me thinking about it a bit more, and then I went online to explore. I bought the Ranma manga, and I was gone. ^^

At first, I thought my first anime was Sailor Moon. I started watching it on Cartoon Network when I was in second grade and my family just got cable.

But then a few months ago I learned that My Neighbor Totoro was anime...and I watched that when I was three or four, and I remember watching it over and over and over again...more than any other movie I watched when I was a kid. So really my very first anime was My Neighbor Totoro. I got hooked on anime as a toddler without even knowing it...lol!

A friend had all of Evangelion on VHS and we watched about 8 episodes, and that got me to buy the series as they came out on DVD...with that, I started watching/collecting anime. Before then, I didn't really know anything about anime, even though I had seen some years before, like Ninja Scroll, not really knowing it was anime.

technically, the first anime i watched were stuff like Voltes V and Kimba the White Lion and Speed Racer...really 70's oldies that were rehashed on TV. but i was too young then to understand what "Japan" was, let alone the idea of Japanese animation. the anime that really got me hooked was Akazukin Chacha. XD yeah, mahou shoujo it was that got me started.
