middle aged men

what could you say about middle aged men all taking a cross road country trip on their motor cylces, and throwing away their cell phones? crazy or just plain dumb?


my father is 49 and he drives his harely and he has his biker getup.. lol

does anyone else have a mom or dad that thinks their bikers?

My dad has a Harley [a V-Rod], but he doesn't fancy himself a "biker", and he'd never throw away his cell phone ~ he couldn't afford to [too many important calls].

Well, my dad will be eighty in a couple years, so no. Of course, I'm in the age range of your father. I don't ride a motorcycle, but I do read manga, watch anime, and write Science Fiction...

We all fail to grow up in one area or another. Some men, unfortunately, never stop drinking too much or chasing women. Just be glad that your dad's immaturity involves bikes instead. Hopefully, my family is glad that mine involves comic books, etc.

Hmmm. Are you saying your father can't be a biker? Because he is a father or because he is old? Many of the original outlaw bikers are now fathers and grandfathers now.

My dad loves his bike, but he's not a part of a club as far as I know. He also collects guns and preaches on Sundays.

While I wouldn't mind having some form of motorbike, my wife is totally against it.

What I would really like would be some form of travel trailer as we both like to travel. My dad who is 81 still goes here and there with his fifth wheeler. To me that would be great.

My dad has a Honda Virago that is gathering dust in my parking space (apparently it is a problem with the carburetor that's unfixable). I don't have any fear that he will do anything like what you described.

My niece who just turned 28 yesterday was interested in riding a Japanese motorcycle that belong to her boyfriend and got her license for it.
She was riding for awhile but a couple of times when she stop she couldn't get her feet down to stop from falling over. She damaged the bike one time.
She now has given up riding until she works out the problem.
She wants to get a dirt bike and try that or get a trike motorcycle.
I had thought if I was to get a motorcycle I would get a trike. There are some nice ones I have seen built using different motorcycles.

I've never heard of people only collecting guns on Sunday, but I certainly don't begrudge someone their sport.

On topic, I have a coworker who is a 50 year old Electrical Engineer and he just bought a Harley. Another coworker in a different division is also 55+ and bought one recently. They look pretty funny in their getup.

The statistical likelihood of an internet forum containing a thread titled "middle aged men" has to be pretty low. Otherwise, I'd be tempted to cry Midlife Crisis, but it depends on the individual. Sometimes people in that stage of life find themselves with more leisure time than in the past and take up new hobbies.
