How did you choose your avatar?

USSR girl asked me why I have a nature of always having soft, gentle avatars and sigs. (And yes, I PROMISE TO PM YOU BACK. SUPER BUSY KYAA!!!)

I think the main reason I use them is really just my own taste. Or it might just simply be from the very bottom of my heart. How I feel, and sense, everything around me.

Another interesting thing of self-note would be that while what I have is soft, it isn't extremely girly, but it isn't very dark. It's soft but with a serious tone.

Hm, I've always wondered. If angels do have wings.

I think mine would be gray. Not black or white, because I'm usually always in the middle.

My fursona is a flycat, or haeneko, so I chose an avatar depicting Rose from the GBA game Riviera, since she is a cat, and has wings.

I usually rotate between two avatars...

My current avatar is of Onizuka from GTO. I picked him because although he may have a crazy sense of humor, he can be a deep thinker at times and values what a life is worth.

The second one I also use is of Ippo from Hajime no Ippo (Fighting Spirit). He's a good example of a very timid guy afraid to stand up for himself. Through boxing training he gains self respect and confidence in himself.

Both characters I picked because I feel like I can relate to them on some level or another.

For avatars that I've used in the past, usually because they were of my favorite character. Same with the one I have now, of Raistlin from the Dragonlance novels. There's some eerie similarities between me and the character, so I've decided to keep him.

Clothing tends to last a long time with me. This particular pair of shorts were one of my favorites and were salvaged by repeated stitchings, which added to their character. After awhile, the shorts became tattered beyond practical repair and then became a lame art project. After that, I figured I would make the most of an otherwise useless fragment of pants by scanning it and making an avatar. :3

I originally used a Pacifica avatar that CR (CK?) made for me when I finally decided to start talking to other people than her on the forum. I had been watching Scrapped Princess around that time and she knew about it. There was no extreme love for Pacifica...just...happened to be what I started with.

Now...I don't think I could post without Pacifica in my avatar. I mean...she's...she's me. It's like I'd have some sort of identity crisis if I changed it now...

I chose this avatar of Goku because he and I have a lot in common when it comes to personality. I also love the words, "Always there for you" that were on the picture, because I always want to be there for my friends. I was close to choosing either Yuki or Kyo from Fruits Basket though in the end I stuck with Goku. ^_^

I ALMOST always have a drawing I have done myself in my avatar. As is the case presently.

Sometimes If I start to obsess over a character from a VG or anime I will place them in my avatar otherwise I just use drawings.

Mine is Raven from Teen Titans turned into a bunny (as seen in the imaginatively titled "Bunny Raven"). I love the show and Raven is awesome, but the main reason I picked it was because it's just such a FUNNY picture!

Here are all the reasons I chose my avatars:
1. Kuroneko--I wanted to honor such a cute obscure character
2. Tsukasa--.hack//sign is my all-time favorite series.
3. Spaceman Spiff--my favorite Calvin alter ego
4. Kagome & Inuyasha--to celebrate the ending of Inuyasha
5. Astroboy--I'm falling in love with the original black and white version.

Pure whim, as always. My current one is from Rocket Girls. It's a mediocre series, noteworthy mainly for engineering fanservice (remember reverse Polish notation?), and I don't recommend it, but I did like that akanbe. I change avatars frequently and use different ones on different boards. Others that I've used here and elsewhere include a crow from the opening of Lain, mad scientist Hororo from Bottle Fairy, the "angry Reki" sketch from the first episode of Haibane Renmei, Anza Ooyama from the first stage SeraMyu, Kasanoda (with nekomimi) from Ouran #22-23, Salt from Sugar, Yashima-sama from Kamichu!, and others I'll remember later.
