Sacred Paths of the West by Theodore M Ludwig
Peace is the Way (anthology edited by Walter Wink)
The Mismeasure of Man by Stephen Jay Gould

College courses are starting off easy. I'm eager to get further into Gould's book, however.

Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke (good so far, though I'm less than halfway through it) and Minna no Nihongo I. Tomorrow I will be looking over the curriculum for several classes.

Boo Who, by Rene Gutteridge. It's funny.

Macho! by Victor Villasenor

At least it's fairly quick reading. That is very refreshing, given the majority of texts I have to move through slowly (Aristotle, most recently).

The Warrior Heir,[i] by... Err... can't remember. Not sure where I put it. But I do like it thus far. Upon finishing [i]The Secret Country, I suddenly realize that I have no idea what half the book is about. The writing is very vague. Hmmm... Kind of a disappointment.

Warped Passages: Unraveling the Mysteries of the Universe's Hidden Dimensions by Lisa Randall

Training Recurrent Neurocontrollers for Real-Time Applications by Danil Prokhorov.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

The Misunderstood Jew by Amy-jill Levine

It seems that it will be interesting and informative. Though I find it well-written, there have been a number of minor points that have annoyed me. Hopefully this will not detract from the overall experience.

Just finished The Five Fists of Science. Working on The Sandman V6: Fables and Reflections.

Upon completing that, I will move on to American Gods and Stardust.

Still reading the book I last was, but now I must rush to a library and re-pick-up a copy of A Wrinkle In Time and re-read-it. (The author, Madeline L'Engle, died just today, and I've decided I must re-read the Wrinkle trilogy in tribute. Those books are part of the reason I'm such a fantasy dork nowadays...)

I'm kind of juggling two at the same time; Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and Piercing the Darkness by Frank Peretti. I'm loving both, they are so well written for their own individual reasons.

The Giver. I've heard a lot about it, and it's pulled me in from the moment I started. Very mysterious and surreal.

Again. For a class. Still interesting, though.

When I read it years ago I was very impressed. I hope you enjoy the book as well and it eventually reaches classic status.

That's a wonderful book. I actually first heard it in the audio version, and the guy reading it had a very...grey voice, if you know what I mean. Perfect for this story. I hope you like the book!

The Assault on Reason by Al Gore.I think he makes som valid points on how we really don't use reasoning as much as our ancestors used to because of the fact that we rely too heavily on broadcast news over the newspaper these days.

This Present Darkness by Frank Perretti...I hope I spelled his last name right hehe..
No one knows what goes on inside of your head
And everything seems to be ok.
And your the same as you've always been (your the same)
If I'd listened, would you have talked to me?

I don't wanna Let You Down,
But I can't even pick up myself.
I only wanted to make you proud,
But I don't think I can do this anymore.

When did this crowded room get so lonely?
And everyone keeps looking at me.
I'm tired (so tired) of faking my life
I'm so tired, I don't wanna feel this way.

Breath, Eyes, Memory by Edwidge Danticat
Art of the Commonplace by Wendell Berry

The former was quick but dull until the very last page of the first reading assignment, where it finally caught my interest. The latter is well-written and obviously from a capable mind, but I feel strongly opposed to the central principles of his agrarian idealism.
