Dorm Life

Talk about anything in here.

Well, it's not a dorm story, but I was at Boy Scout summer camp once and had a weird, but nice in a twisted way story. See, they had group showers [one room, multiple shower heads, no curtains]. I was about 13ish and did not handle this well. I didn't freak out or anything, but I really didn't want to go in and take a shower. Teh older boys were being weird and slightly disgusting, so my buddy Rob grabbed a towel, pulled his T-shirt over his head, ran in whooping [Rob is good at making lound weird noises] and towel-whipped just about everyone in there. There was much swearing, but it made me feel better for some reason [not the swearing XD].

This is actually my first day in my dorm room [I iz a freshmn kthx], so no stories yet.

Lol! Etoh, it sounds like you had an interesting night. Its always fun when the power goes out because you find ways to entertain yourself that you wouldn't have thought of before.

Two more freshmen other than me! I guess more of you guys are just getting to college than I originally thought. I don't have many stories myself. I don't know if I will though, because it seems like all the girls are really nice... hmm...

Well, I did accidentally lock my suit mates out of the bathroom twice. I went in to use the bathroom, locked the door to their room and the one to my room. When I left I completely forgot to unlock their door. The second time this happened both me and my roomie were out of our room. When I got back after class I saw a note jotted on the marker board we have on the outside of our door that said "You locked us out AGAIN! Lindsey". *sigh* oops. My bad. Hope she didn't have to go too bad...

You know, there are locks on both sides of the bathroom doors. You could lock someone IN the bathroom too, but I don't see how that would happen. And I don't think I'll play that joke on my suit mates as I"m not sure how good a sense of humor they have. My room mate I wouldn't dare try this one, because she would most definitely seek revenge in some cruel, unimaginable way. I'd never see it coming...

Once, I lived in a one bathroom, one bedroom dorm with 6 other guys. We were crammed into bunks that were crammed into the dorm. Space was tight, but everyone got along quite well for the most part. There was this particular fellow in our dorm that was a little interesting (there always seems to be at least one interesting person). Anyhow, he wouldn't fold any of his laundry, he would just throw it on his bunk and sleep with a big pile of clothes. I'm pretty sure he only showered about once a week (maybe), and he did his laundry about twice over 4 months. Suffice to say, we had one smelly dorm. The end. :3

I haven't lived in a dorm myself, but I've heard stories of some shenanigans...

One person achieved their goal of getting on the roof of every residential college in North Adelaide (I think there are 5).
There's apparently a bathtub (yes, a bathtub) that exchanges ownership regularly between two of the residential colleges (it gets transported somehow...).
There's also stories of people from one college stealling the entire cutlery set of another residential college's dining hall.
And sometimes couches transfer ownership between colleges too... XD
Plus others...

I haven't heard many stories that are more closely dorm-related though.

Is it common to stay in dorms when you live close by? (I travel an hour by bus to uni...)

Yup, It's very common. Some schools have more commuters than others, but about 99% of them have people staying in dorms.

I didn't think so, but I had a number of highschool friends that decided to get a dorm even though the school was in the same city as their highschool.

I was a commuter all four years; I lived in the same condo as I did when I was in middle school. Perhaps this is why my social life evaporated whilst everyone elses' expanded.

My mistake. I missed the part when you asked about those who lived close by.

Most of the people I knew from Highschool are generally staying in dorms (And this is with in-state colleges), but since dorms are pretty expensive, a lot of people who live close by generally commute.

I attended a "commuter school"

Most of the student body lived off-campus, but most of the houses near campus were rented to groups of students. Since the school itself had no responsibility for those houses, some pretty wild things happened there, often involving the police.

Sunday night, once I was back in the dorm after returning from home, my room mate and I heard a lot of ruckus in the hallways. Girls were running around, laughing, and squealing. When we opened the door to see what was going on we saw our RHD and some girl in a hoodie in the hall. The girl with the hoodie had it stuffed full of junk. She was wearing sunglasses and a bandanna around her mouth. They were pranking people by knocking on their doors and taking their stuff. The girl in the hoodie hugged our RA and the other girl got the RA's keys. They went in her room and shut the door, taking the RA's stuff. My room mate and I returned to our room and shut our door so we would be safe. A few minutes later the girls came knocking on our door. I didn't open the door, so they wrote "MOOOO!" on the marker board on our door.

That is my dorm life story. Later in the week the Ra had her keys stolen again! This time they were simply hidden. But our suit mates had locked us out of the bathroom, and gone out. The RA couldn't let us in, so I had to use her bathroom instead. It was quite an interesting evening...

I guess this is an update, since I've gotten a little more settled into college. My dorm is actually pretty normal, probably because girls don't like doing weird things in public.

Actually, I'm in my college library right now, and there's a wall that lots of clubs and organizations post their flyers and what not. There's also this one flyer with a picture of some poor depiction of Sonic and Pikachu combined; it's basically a flyer looking for a girlfriend. XD Apparently he is here right now, wearing a "Sonichu" medal. I'm too afraid to look for him. XDDDD

The first year I was in a dorm room, I lived in constant fear of the people around me doing strange things to me.

By the last year I was in the dorms, everyone in my dorm feared what I would do if they looked at me wrong. It may have had something to do with my "matrix motif" in my dorm. Since I was a CIS major, I had about 6 computers, all with their monitors set to the matrix screen saver. When I would sit at the computer with my back to the door, people would come down the hall and just see a setup out of a sci-fi film, with me in dark glasses coding in VI.

For one small slice of time, I was cool. Or at least feared - which is almost as cool.
