Nightmares or Dreams

Postby itch » Sun Aug 19, 2007 6:17 am

Recently I had a dream that I was walking down a highway when suddenly all of the cars around me started spinning out of control. Even Eighteen-wheelers were sliding sideways and slamming into other vehicles. Other pedestrians (don't ask me why we were walking on the side of a highway) were beheaded by debris right before my eyes. All the while I had the sickening end-of-the-world feeling. The one that I can only shake by waking up and making sure I'm awake.

This thread is for all of your nightmares or dreams. Please include all of the details. I find myself intensly intrigued by the dreams and nightmares of others.

I think my dream had something to do with attending anime cons with my club I belonged to before it folded.
I am walking in a hotel hallway until I came to a room door. I open the door and walk into room and walk to the bathroom door and open it. On the other side is a large bathroom. All these young ladies are in the bathroom nude in the tube, fixing their hair or makeup:wow!::o:red:. To my left is another door. I open it and just then another young lady comes thru the door behind me nude. I enter another bathroom which looks like its been hit by a storm. Dirty water in two sinks and stuff all over the place. I walk to the door and open it to the hotel room and walk to the other door and into the hallway again and to another room door and into another room and my dream ends.
Now I have never seen a member of my club in the nude, male or female, but I have seen them in bathing suits, trunks when they went to the hotel pool.
My niece did a interpretation. Seeing someone nude. I may feel discuss for them or I could except them for what they are. I can see thru them and understand them or I could be in for a relationship with someone.
I don't remember alot of what she said about my dream interp but was alot to what everything means.

That's interesting. I've had many dreams in the past where I'm in a public bathroom naked. People are around me and I'm trying to hide myself. The stall door is always broken, or there are giant gaps where the door hinges are.

I heard that when we dream about being naked and someone sees us, if we are embarrassed by it, (which some are and some aren't) then we are concerned about what that person thinks of us. I often try to pursuade myself that I don't care what other people think about me, but the interpretation of my dream says otherwise and I know that deep inside I really do care, sometimes.

I'm not trying to make the interpretation correct, it just seemed to work that way for me.

Thank-you for making this thread, itch. I've been having dreams since I was younger about tornados and plane-crashes.
I had one last night: I was on a playground with a lot of kindergartners and a storm was approaching. I saw a rotating cloud (by the way, I'm going to major in meteorology weirdly) and I yelled at the kids to get inside, running around the playground and trying to wake up kids who were sleeping under the slides and stuff. We ran to the nearest shelter, the tornado literally bearing down on us, which was a movie theater--that was too full. A lot of people were in the streets just staring at the coming tornado--no where to go.

About the plane crash nightmares--I am always staring out the window of my room or in the backyard of my house when it falls out of the sky. It's usually a large jet, and in the nightmare I can predict that it's going to crash when it flies over my head. I get this strong nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach.

These have been happening since I was a little girl--they're frequent and they're bothering me.

Your welcome. Meteorology huh? You must think of your career more than you think you think about it. ^^
That's very interesting that you've been having them for so long. Have you looked them up in dream interpretaion books or websites? I'll see what I can find on them . . . Perhaps they'll be an answer to a deep secret of yours through this dream's interpretation.

It's not rare for me to have dreams where I'm naked in front of some people. (Just had one last night, in fact) In the interpretaion books this means that I care about what other people think. :red: I'm a sickly shy person, in person, and I suppose that worrying about what other people think has a lot to do with it. That's just me though.

I looked up the interpretation for recurring dreams. This is not to say that this applies to your dreams, but you might find it pleasing to know what your dreams might mean. This is what I found:

Most dreams contain messages that serve to teach us something about ourselves. Unfortunately many a times we forget what we dream about as we go about our daily routine. With recurring dreams, the message may be so important and/or powerful that it just will not go away. The frequent repetition of such dreams forces you to pay attention and confront the dream. The dream is trying desperately to tell you something. Such dreams are often nightmarish or frightening in their content, which also helps you to take notice and pay attention to them.

Recurring dreams are quite common and are often triggered by a certain life situation or a problem that keeps coming back again and again. These dreams may recur daily, once a week, or once a month, but whatever the frequency, there is little variation in the dream content itself. It usually points to a personal weakness, fear, or your inability to cope with something in your life - past or present.

The repetitive patterns in your dream can reveal some of the most valuable information on yourself. It may point to a conflict, situation or matter in your waking life that remains unresolved or unsettled. Or some urgent underlying message in your unconscious is demanding to be understood.

Following are some tips in overcoming your recurring dreams.

1. In understanding your recurring dream, you must be willing to accept some sort of change or undergo a transformation.

2. You must be willing to look within yourself and confront whatever you may find no matter how difficult it my be.

3. You must be able to look at the dream from an objective point of view. Try to get pass the emotional and reactive elements of the dream and get down to the symbolic images. Many times dreams are masked by elements that are disturbing preventing you to delve any deeper. This is a defense mechanism that your unconscious may be putting up.

4. Be patient. Do not get discourage if these dreams still recur even after you thought you have come to understand them.

5. Learn to accept yourself truly and fully.

Often times, once you discover what your recurring dream is trying to tell you, these dreams will change or altogether disappear.

Man this sounds very close to a Boy Meets World episode! Where Cory and Shawn(Cory's best friend) are roommates in a college dorm, and Cory keeps having reacurring dreams about killing his best friend Shawn. He later figures out that his dreams are trying to tell him something. So one night when he has the dream, he stays asleep through the whole dream and sees him not only killing Shawn, but also Shawn's brother, Eric, Angela and everyone elseby pushing them all into the elevator shaft. And then he sees Topanga(His fiance and good friend) in her wedding dress and he figures out he had to give everyone else up so that he could marry Topanga, even if it meant his best friend. So really he had to deal with giving up his best friend and his friendship with the others for his new marriage with Topanga. Sounds really odd, but thats what happened.

Actually, that was only once a long, long time ago (in a little boys mind far far away)...I really have not had any nightmares recently...It's strange cuase I used to have a lot as a young kid (6-12 yrs old)...but more of late my dreams tend to be more like (as I said earlier) like a soap opera, and they usually involve one or more of my real life friends (which just makes it stranger at times....and this is when I actually remember the dream...)

Thanks itch! Wow, you've done some research, hehe.
Makes me think....I know I've never seen any tornados nor am I afraid of them. Maybe they are symbolic....I just have to think of what they represent.

You know, that made me think. I guess I've been waking up too soon before the dream ends. The thing is, I wake out of it when I move (like turn over or jolt).

I had a dream or I could call it a nightmare.
I somehow ended up in the worse place in town where criminals are the only people around and I am trying to walk out of there without confrontation with anyone. I walk into the most evil places and try to get out of them as fast as I can. I see things that should not be happening.

As a firefighter I have had dreams of seeing a fire and I try to yell to warn people but I have no voice or try to use a phone or radio to call for help and they don't work.

I have had dreams of being back at a old job or people that don't work at my job anymore back at the job.

@ ashfire- Your second dream sounds like you are afraid that there may come a time when you can't save someones life. Like you do everything you can but it all be in vain. You sound like you may need some confidence, but not just the regular confidence. The confidence you find in the Lord, because He always has the best stuff. With this confidence you'll know that you can save their lives from the blazing fires. And who knows it just might be a double save. Like if they aren't saved and they die in the fires. Then they have to continue to burn for eternity. But you can change that by having confidence in the Lord and doing your best to save them, and then maybe that might be an opportune moment for some conversion. But you may not be able to save everyone, but you can sure try! (I doubt that helped any so Im sorry if didn't.)

I wish I could help out on the others but I'll leave that to the expert.(AKA Itch.)

I can say I have seen many a life lost. I seen those who have died in fires and could not reach them. I seen many died while on the ambulance or arrive at a accident just to pickup whats left and take them to the morge at the hospital.
I have seen many of them from the very young to the very old but I just say just do your best and hope that the next will be a save.
I am more of administrative now than active operations so I don't ride the fire and rescue units anymore so alot of it maybe thoughts of my youngself until I stopped riding years ago and let the younger ones do it.
I do have to keep certain training up for department needs. EMT training is a must because I would have to treat someone if they are sick or injuried until a EMS unit arrives.

I had a rather amusing (well, to me, anyway) dream last night. I was dreaming about the characters from my wanna-be fantasy series. Now, one of my characters is a home-grown gumshoe. She does all those "Internet case solver" dealies and tries to solve puzzling old mysteries and cold cases for fun. Well, I had a dream last night that my characters were in an old film noir movie... and she was the trenchcoated detective! It was really very funny, at least to me. She also carried a sparkler with her everywhere. Why? When she needed to dramatically tap ash off a cigar into an ashtray, like they do in old movies, she'd tap ash off the end of the sparkler. "I don't smoke," she'd say in her pseudo-gravelly hard-boiled 1930's detective voice. "But I do chew gum." Blow a black and white bubble; pop dramatically.

There should've been a scene in my dream where she convinced The Bad Guys she was opening fire on their hideout by popping her gum. That would've rocked.
I am going to hypnotize you with the Dancing Banana so that you all think my signature is wonderful and witty.

This is what I found on a website:

"Some even claim that they don't have dreams, although, of course, we all do, whether we remember them or not."

This person goes on to give instructions on how to remember dreams. But, I do wonder if this person is correct. Does everyone dream?

For the past six months I've only been having nightmares.

Due to the graphic nature of these nightmares, I can't go into detail on what happens in them on this forum.

(And yes, I do believe they're trying to tell me something)

the other night I had a pretty wacky dream.

Ok, Downtown Port aux Basques, there is a furniture store called "Coleman's Furniture".
Now, That store was Monks Cafe from Seinfeld! And George and Jerry lived here in Port aux Basques. And every day, they will sit down and talk.

Earlier that night, I was watching Mythbusters and they did an exparament with Pigeons. So, Pigeons were in my dream too.

What happened, was that there is a wire by the front window with Pigeons on it.
They were talking about Pigeons how they are all bunched up together. And how they always go with each other.
George sais "look how close their legs are. If A Pigeon sits down, does he cross his legs.. If I were a Pigeon, I would cross my legs."

Then Jerry sais "Well, I wouldn't."

George Replies: "Do you think they are comfortable?"

Jerry sais "I don't know.. How about you go out and ask them."

George replies: "You are enjoying yourself. aren't you."

Jerry sais: "Yeah.. You know who I wouldn't want to cross my legs by?"

George asks: "Who?"

Jerry replies: "Hairy-Leg-Peddle!"

Hairy-Leg-Peddle is the nickname of my Gym Teacher.

It was crazy..

How'd your Gym teacher aquire that nickname?

The night before last I dreamed that I went to the park behind my house to see a man. I didn't know him. When I got there he was sitting in what looked like an old-fashioned wooden bath tub.

The man was pale and halfway submerged in a runny gray slime. Floating in the slime was pieces of other men. They were dead and decaying.
I'm pretty sure the man sitting in it was alive because I remember thinking to myself that he was drawing power or strength from the bodies.

I wasn't scared in the dream, just very interested. Interested in seeing the man and learning more about him.

Any thoughts on my dream?

Sounds to me like you watch too many horror movies! o.o;

Personally, I like to write down my dreams, but I generally consider them personal property (in case I use an idea later in a story). I generally don't share them online.
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share

And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

Well, I was watching Jeepers Creepers 2 just the day before. Hm.

I see your point. That's the way I feel about my dreams sometimes, especially when the interpretations reveal personal secrets.
