Questions for Writers/Artists (professional or amateur)

Talk about anything in here.

I love this post - thanks ~darkelfgirl~.

1. My inspiration comes mostly from the Bible and several specific anime series (especially tragic ones). The Bible is now my favorite book to read, literary or otherwise. It's wierd - I never thought it would be. Oh well.

2. I usually write in a populated area. Because I feel that I must write, I often find myself isolated, which makes me feel lonely sometimes (though I've been feeling better recently). Therefore, I feel the need to write in places like libraries, restaurants, malls, etc. This also gives me ideas for dialogue occasionally.
On the other hand, when I get into a rhythm or a thought comes to mind I can write anywhere, anytime. Though my freehand writing (i.e. not on a computer) is almost exclusively in a populated place.

BTW- Whoa, you can come up with inspiration by looking at a drop of water! I only wish I could have that much insight. In fact, I think I'll pray for it right now.
"Lives are power." - Kamille Bidan
"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" - Christ the Lord (John 11:25-26)

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. - James 1:2-4.

Remember - the Lord will be with you - always. :)

I get inspiration from a lot of things... Just this whole reality. I just add a little spice of my own to it and WAH-LA!.. >*_*< My creations are born. What attracts me to horror and such.. I can't exactly grasp.. But fear is a very powerful thing. N' it's just my nack.

I can create stories anywhere and draw. But writing or typing is nearly impossible for me to do if there is a TV on. >X_x<
I live to love and love to live! >^.^<

Princess Zelda: Hehe, same with me on drawing, but not writing

Kamille: ^^' You're welcome! Yeh, I feel lonely when writing too. I also have to have a lot of characters in my story because it'll feel deserted...and that'll make me feel weird. I learned a lot of writing techniques from the Bible because in my elementary Christian school they were serious about learning it...everything that we learned circulated around the Bible...

c-girl: I can tell, because you draw a lot of dark characters--not like that's bad ^^ I also like to look at reality from a distant view to get my inspiration...

1. I really don't know where I get inspiration to draw something. XD Rather, things come to me at random. I might see a picture, hear lyrics from a song, or just think of something that gives me an idea for something to draw. It kind of depends on my mood as well, but mostly it's those three things.

2. When I draw, I prefer to be alone in my room. I either situate myself comfortably on the floor (I do this most often, I think XD) or at my desk. I will draw with people around, but only if I'm in class at a desk or something. I don't really like to be disturbed while I'm in serious drawing mode, so I guess that's why I prefer to be alone during that time. XDD

Dai-go wrote:I actually wanna know, does anyone else withdraw from the world for a while when they're creating or being creative? I just wanna know if I'm the only one. I read that somewhere, a secular site, then decided to just rest in Christ and draw. I simply wanna know if anyone else here does that.

I don't really do so, but I find that if I do withdraw from my normal routines and things like computer games etc, my writing seems to be better afterwards; in quality, I think, but definitely my frame of mind is more pure when I write.

1. Everywhere, and my imagination.

2. My room, or a computer in the living room usually.
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share

And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

1. Where do you usually get inspiration for your stories and art?

I get inspired by weird things. Sometimes a book or a movie or a TV show as a whole will influence me, but I'm more inclined to get inspiration in individual bite-sized nuggets. Sometimes when I'm sitting in a bus and I see someone sitting across the way from me, my mind will automatically begin to describe them. "She had low-slung shoulders, as if their own weight was dragging them down. Her eyes darted from her book to the rims of her glasses, scanning the inside of the bus rythmically. The beads in her corn-rowed hair clacked almost imperceptibly with the motion. She seemed to be anticipating something. Her nerves seemed to be catching in me." Sometimes I'll spot something neat in a book or show or video game that catches with me. For example, I really liked the Chozo from the Metroid series, so I decided to create my own race of bird people for my fantasy world. One of my more important secondary characters in the same world was inspired by Chi from Chobits. And there's another character from the same world who's a talking snake and is based on a character from Friends. I don't want to list all my picayune little inspirations, though, or I'll soon become the only member on this board as everyone else is bored to death.

Where and under what conditions do you write or draw?

I write best at night, while listening to music. Any kind of music will do; I have an enormous playlist chock full of a gazillion and one MP3s. But I do like to have a mix of songs with lyrics and those without. Otherwise, any genre, tempo, and style will do.

I also love to write in the car while traveling through the countryside, but as you can imagine, chances to do that are slim, and as my notebook only has a 2 hour battery life, I generally get cut off in the middle of a real fount...
I am going to hypnotize you with the Dancing Banana so that you all think my signature is wonderful and witty.
