Help Identifying this Anime

Unfortunately, I don't have a lot to go off of, and no screen-shots at all what-so-ever. But what I do have, is an idea of what it comprised of.

I saw it about 7 years ago. It was kinda post apocalyptic, and lots of robots everywhere. This anime was about a guy who could transform into the same type of robot, but he wasn't insane like the rest of them. BUT, the catch was that he could only stay in that form for 2 hours, otherwise he'd start to go insane like the rest of the robots and kill lots of people. (Now, I'm not sure, but I think that there was also a center, or miltary base type of place where he was at cuz the robot/guy had a female spotter who kept him in check)

He also had a glider type of thing that helped him fly around, sorta like the Green Goblin. And his mech form looked like a cross between the Wetwall and the Xenogears from the game....well...Xenogears.

People keep telling me that it sounds familiar, but I just can't get a name!
And I know I wasn't making this up because I can't make up vivid details like that......And it's not Evangelion >_>;;

Though if this isn't an anime, I've got a dang good story on my hands.

EDIT: Ya' know. Betterman seems to be too new. And GaoGaiGar doesn't note any drawbacks to using their powers. I mean, the guy nearly killed everyone on his team. Hmm...BUT on the plus side, they're two awesome animes I'm putting on my list to check out! Especially GaoGaiGar. Seems to be the artist from Tenchi Muyo or somethin'. *shrugs* Thank you though!

If anyone else has anything, ANY names at all, please lettme know. XD I know it may seem like a wild goose chase, but it probably exists!

Hmmmm...I'm gunna bump this.

Any ideas where you saw it? If it happened to be TechTV, it sounds like it COULD be Soul Taker. I'm racking my brain to think of anything that might be what you're talking about... there are lots of things with similar plot implements coming to mind, but I can't say for sure if they're what you're looking for.

Sounds like tekkaman to me. (was it tekkaman blade or tekkaman the original? Oh I dont remeber.)

tekkaman had a world overrun by hostile alien plant things, alien insect invasions as well as the human/alien hybrid things. The hero was one of them but was to himself. He used a crystal to transform into tekkaman but could only stay in that form for so long before he completely lost it. He also got a robot that he used to transform/ride on after his transformation crystal broke.

Very bio armor looking stuff.

OMG! How and where'd you find this? Or, better yet, where'd you see it?
It came out in 1994 on UPN Kids which is probably where I watched it at. And apperently it wasn't 2 hours, it was half and hour, and he does use a battle robot glider type of thing.

Not a bad show if you can look past the mullets and the weird ending. Kinda sad story acctually.

and yeah i went on the same quest you did to find it, stumbled across it acctually on the mecha forums of a site that apparently caa censors the name of 0_o
