The fact is that guys are pretty much always going to be aware of girls' bodies, and nothing a girl can do will change that. Girls can only help us out so far, and after that it's up to us.

The problem is that many girls, whether through ignorance or selfishness, aren't inclined to help at all.

Also, be careful you don't misread the survey results. You have to click on each individual statement to see the results. Some things were said by the majority to be stumbling blocks, some weren't.

I remember another thread about that survey back while it was still going on . I thought about taking it but didn't have time.

Well, I can personally say that I haven't enjoyed the idea of a bathing suit at all, not matter if it was a bikini or a full suit. It's made out of basically spandex and that doesn't suit my body figure. I don't judge people by the way they look or what they wear. It just that it would be easier if the didn't make everything so tight. If they made a loose bathing suit that covered the right places, I may consider wearing a bathing suit myself, but for now, I wear t-shirts and tanks with shorts or PJ pants. To me, it's just more fun that way. . . LoL! But, hey, this is just my opinion on this subject. =)

Like I said, I have never personally seen anyone made fun of for wearing swim trunks instead of a bikini bottom, but then again, no one should be made fun of for making choices he or she thinks is right.

Some of the written responses tended towards women only wearing large baggy dresses to their ankles, no bifurcated clothing, nothing resembling form fitting. It can tend to the extreme.

Wouldn't medianites skew the results more toward center?

I totally agree with what RedMage and Mithy have said. Us guys are wired visually and many girls either don't realize that or they honestly don't care enough to do anything. And like T4T said, the media does make it seem like girls have to dress skimpy to get any attention. It's funny that gangster rap, one of the types of music that most objectifies girls and treats them no more than body parts and things that aren't worth any more than a one night stand, is one of the most popular types of music with teenage girls.

I agree with everyone on that. We are definitely wired in that sort of way. And yes, it's a little weird that gangsta rap is popular with girls.

Yes, teen4truth, all of the responses used for the survey are from guys. There is a forum, however, where both genders are free to discuss it.

Well, mechana2015, they didn't say Puritans couldn't participate. :) The thing is, everyone struggles with lust to different degrees. Also, those who come from varying cultural backgrounds are bound to have varying standards.

I'll like to say, I'm impressed with your stand on purity. I've heard how hard it is for girls to find modest stuff, and believe me as a guy I appreciate when ya'll dress modestly.

Actually, that's a question I would like to answer myself. Why are some girls attracted towards that which would demoralize them the worse? My sister adores that kind of music (ick) but I know she's in a "lost state". I wonder if it's just simply being lost that causes the reaction.

I have only two things to say in this thread. Not because that's all I have, but because most of what I would have said has already been covered ably by others.

1) We, as Christians, have spent an inordinately large amount of time hung up on this subject in comparison to so many more important ones, especially considering how little time Our Lord spent on it. Not saying there aren't issues, just saying we seem to lack some perspective on the subject.

Many historians have suggested we are actually carrying forward Roman religious beliefs on the matter more than Christian ones (Despite their reputation, the Romans spent the majority of their history as a very conservative society.) Christ and his Apostles preached a moral approach to life, including not being a vexation to your fellows, but not body shame and guilt.

2) No woman should ever feel pressured to show more than she is comfortable with showing, regardless of what her peers think. Your body isn't public domain, nor is it God's gift to men. It's God's gift to YOU, and it's your decision who sees how much of it.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

Yeah, I agree with ErictheFred on this subject. And besides its not really summer time anymore so there really isn't a need to discuss this subject any further. There are so many other things we could debate upon, so lets go onto a new subject in another thread(or soon to be thread) of course!
