Highway bridge collapses over the Mississippi river in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Postby Alexander » Wed Aug 01, 2007 6:24 pm

I received the news from my dad just a few minutes ago.

A bridge over the Mississippi river has collapsed in Minnesota. It was under repairs and buckled. It's estimated that 50 to 60 cars are underwater. The amount of deaths are currently unknown. More information is coming as time passes.

I feel this would be a really good time for all of us to come together to pray for the families and victims of this disaster.

Yeah, I heard about this. It's really horrible; I can't imagine what it would have been like. I'll definitely be praying for the families.

This is really horrific. I've been watching the news for almost an hour. It's really terrible. We can only hope that the casualties are minimal.

How awful.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I'm watching it now on FOX. So far, only four deaths and sixty wounded. There are twenty missing. I'll definitely be praying for them.

They did report that a school bus carrying children also fell. There were some wounded but they all survived. Thank God for that.

I actually heard that they stopped just in time - they didn't actually fall off the bridge. It was on the radio this morning.

Oh, good. I just heard that it fell.

The report on FOX came on again and what they had reported was that the bus had landed on the other side of the bridge and it stayed there. It did fall but not into the river. It just somehow landed safely. Either way, they're safe.

I've been watching CNN since about an hour after the collapse on and off...it's terrible...

79 wounded, 3/4 deaths CONFIRMED (I've also heard reports of 7 and 9 deaths) and many missing...it's crazy. God be with that area.

As I said on the Abhnations Forum earlier today it could have been worse, there were 20,000-25,000 at the Twins game and the management decided that it was best to keep the game going since all those additional people going home from the game would have made it that much harder for the rescue workers.
