Need help with a word

Postby SnoringFrog » Thu Jul 12, 2007 3:19 pm

I'm about to start workign on a paper on admiration, and I have it divided into a few different major terms to discuss, but I'm lacking a name for one of them. So far, the terms I have end in '-ative' and I'd like to keep as close to that as possible without sounding weird to help it all flow together better. Right now I currently have emulative and copulative admiration as the terms I'm using, and I need a word that relates to friendship or companionship. So far, the only word I've really been able to come up with is 'companionative' and I don't really like how that sounds. So I need somethign similar that actually sounds right. The word comraderie (sp?) keeps coming to mind, but I haven't been able to come up with a good way to convert it to an 'ative' type ending.

Any help would we much appreciated.

Well, "cooperative" and "communicative" come to mind.

However, if you can't find an "-ative" word that works, another option would be to compromise to "-tive" or even "-ive."

I hope this helps a little bit.

That helps more than I was asking for, actually. Communicative works perfectly for what I was asking, and cooperative brings another angle to mind that I can write about. Thanks a ton, Anna!
