Staying focused (drawing)

Hey guys. (sorry I didn't know where else to put this)

I've recently been writing up my manga that I started but. it's like I can't stay focused long enough to even draw a single page for it. like I'd rather be doing something else. like computer or games or tv.
But I really want to make the comic.

Any idea's on how to stay focused on a long project? cause I've tried music and other things I heard but nothing.

I have the same problem! I try to set deadlines for myself, and since that doesn't usually work, I make a family member set it. Most of my comics are for other people, though, and the one I'm working on for myself is kinda collecting dust. So maybe I shouldn't have posted at all. But oh, well.^^ Try praying about it?

Try unplugging everything and putting the plugs away. That should help.

To stay focused, I listen around for songs that personify my characters and/or theme- ones that absolutely embody them and get me excited about interacting with them. When that drive to complete dies down, I'll listen to one or a lot of them, depending on the scene being "worked" on. Helps get my mind back into it. It might help you.

Yeah I do that to (though the scene looks so much cooler in my thought) but even that intends to wear off.

hmm well if I am not working on Stick Monkey, I am drawing anyways. (seriously, I am addicted to pencils, paper and my wacom tablet XD)

what I do when I feel I am getting slightly burned out, is I work on drawings of my characters, for more practice, if that doesn't work then i work on other things until I work on my stuff again.

I have also found that getting "Art accountabillity partners" who are other artists is a good thing. I have two very talented people who are mine. There are many talented people on CAA!

The art accountability program is probably the best way to do this sort of thing, as well as working on things in short bursts. I've done work in 20 minute sections before and it seems to track well with a productive path of work without seeming particularly tedious.

Try working on small projects before tackling the big one. Not only does it give you the sense of accomplishment, it's also allows you to exercise your skills.

I know how you feel. I really need to draw all the time, but I get lazy...

I think it's best to just get away to a quiet place and bring some subjects to draw...

What's art accountability? I can't type tonight... Thank goodness for spell check on Firefox... In browser spellcheck FTW....

Or you could be like me and just do other stuff when you feel like it. If you want to get this done that badly, you'll come back to it and put the time in. Personally, I find that everything comes out horribly when I don't feel like drawing.
