I like parodies, although I haven't heard a good one in a while.

I have some old tapes with parodies by various artists released as part of the "Dr.Demento" series, and they are hilarious. Has anyone else heard of these?

Dr. Demento? He wrote "Cat in the Kettle". That song's hilarious!

My favorite parody:

"The Saga Begins" by Weird Al to the tune of "American Pie".

"Downer of a Sister" - ApologetiX
"Smells like Nirvana" - Weird Al

Hmm... I have not heard of ApologetiX. What can you tell me about the group?

Personally, while I like parody a great deal, I'm bigger on satire. Steve Taylor is an older artist, but if you like rock with a biting intelligent edge, I'd suggest finding some of his works if possible.

Apologetix are a Christian Weird Al.

Amish Paradise (Gangsta's Paradise) is my fave Weird Al song. With A Complicated Song (Avril Lavigne Complicated) coming in 2nd.

Of Apologetix I've only heard Shepherd's Paradise
I am the Reaper of Souls... and it's harvest time.

Apologetix... I may have to check that out :)

From weird al though, I love songs like

'YODA'
'The Saga Begins'
'Dare to be Stupid'

Actually there are a lot I like but unfortunately (or fortunately in some cases, or so I've heard) I have not heard most of the original songs (except amarican pie)

That's pretty cool. I will track down their website (and I believe I can assume they have one) and perhaps buy some of their stuff. Thanks for the tip.

ApologetiX are great. They have humor and message intertwined. And their guitarist rocks!
