In a spurt of 30 seconds, my manliness rating went down by 5 percent. I need to go play Halo or Burnout to get it back up now...

This movie is guaranteed to suck. I saw the preview when I saw Pirates: At World's End, of all things! I was able to bring my manliness back after playing some old-fashioned Shadow The Hedgehog and watching M:I:III.

wanna know what i saw when browsing the toy section in wal mart. Bratz clothes for girls. Yes. they have now made the clothes that the bratz wear, and are selling them...with their toys. =_=;;

The sad thing is, when i first saw the trailer i was like, eh. it's nto too bad. (not that i was planning on seeing it. too girly for me.) but then i was like Bratz...ok....o_o;; scratch that theory. =_= and here i thought someone was being semi original.

So after seeing this thread come up again, I actually WATCHED the trailer... All I have to say is... what does it really have to do with Bratz dolls? It's just a cliche tweenie show (in which even at that age I totally disliked, but watched a bunch since alot of my friends liked them :/)

All they did was make a show about (as said above) high school, cliques, school preppy queen (which has been done HOW many times?) and just slapped a Bratz label on it! That's it!

Not trying to stir anything up, but you can't say that, as you haven't seen the movie yet.

Personally, I think getting all riled up about this is just giving the movie more attention, even if it's negative attention. It's like making a thread about an H-game and saying "Oh my gosh! Look at this! I can't belive they made that! It's so gross!"

Hear me out, I'm not trying to say the movie will be good, I just don't understand what the point of bashing it is. It doesn't help anything... and that's my 2 cents ^^;

We may have to massacre the entire Hollywood population to ensure that Earth is rid of this evil. . .

The only good that has come from this movie is affording me the opportunity to make fun of it in social situations. When I saw this preview for the first time, I was with a friend of mine, and, when the preview was over, I said to him "Doesn't this movie have the same plot as 'Mean Girls'?" And he said "Oh, but this movie has a line of dolls connected to it, making it entirely different." :lol:
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. How have I missed this thread until now? I knew the movie existed, but watching the trailer is a different experience altogether.

Does anyone else think it is worth noting the irony of a movie speaking against cliques while simultaneously promoting countless stereotypes? Well, I do.

You make a valid point. Hopefully my response is meaningful in some way.

For me, it isn't an issue of believing that we're going to accomplish anything with this thread. As awful as I feel the premise of this movie is, realizing its existance is pretty funny in a sad way. Humor has intrinsic value. Similarly, my life is edified, if only slightly, when someone else has something witty to say in regard to it. I don't think this thread will generate any revenue for the company either (I'm not seeing it) so the negative attention doesn't necessarily benefit them.

On the other hand, there could be more serious benefits. Sure, it doesn't do any good to just bash a film, but bashing isn't the same as critiquing. If this thread can in any way inspire someone to be more discerning and critical in regard to what entertainment they allow to affect them, good has been done.

Ah, thanks for that, UC. That makes a lot of sense. You're right, there is a certain humor to it all, and I probably overreacted just a bit.

With that said, critique on, fellow denizens!

If I may paraphrase from a GOOD movie:

Negative criticism is fun to read and write. (Anton Ego said words to that effect in Ratatouille.) So people have fun ragging on something that wouldn't otherwise entertain them.

That said, I have no idea who could've green-lighted this tripe. (Tripe is a marvelous word when used to describe something.) However, unlike the dolls, which have the most hideous and questionable fashion sense in the world, this movie at least looks like it will be harmless, if utterly vapid.

This movie makes your average Disney Channel Original Movie seem bright. And there are even a couple of those that ain't too bad! I've no tolerance for that High School Musical whatnot, but I'm rather fond of the Halloweentown series.
I am going to hypnotize you with the Dancing Banana so that you all think my signature is wonderful and witty.
