<_< Dude, do you realize how far K-Town is from the convention center? Would we have the means of transportation to get everyone there? Or the funds? :X

It's about an hour and a half drive. If we left around 9-10pmish, I think that would be better off when it comes to LA traffic.

Do I personally think it's worth it? Yes. It depends if others agree or not, especially Nate and Phil.

It also depends if folks are willing to drive.

^__^;;; Personally I think 1.5 hours is way too long - and LA traffic doesn't sleep until 9PM at LEAST from my experience. The trip could easily turn into 2-2.5 hours, which seems a bit ridiculous to me.

EDIT: Also, I highly advise against a trek through LA if you don't know how to drive there. :X You can wind up in a bad part of town pretty easy.

It's actually a 40 minute drive without taking traffic into account. I think the hour and a half is taking bad traffic into account.

I would also like to add that LA never sleeps. It just goes to clubs and hangs out with it's friends. 9PM being the time that most clubs open.

Quick Edit: Also, the traffic in LA can be slightly dangerous for someone who is not accustomed to driving with such crazy people. It would be very easy for someone to get in an accident. If we do decide to go, we need to make sure we have experienced LA drivers at the wheel.

I'm not up for this. If I'm going anywhere that late at night (9-10PM)... it'll be home, not into downtown LA. If it was earlier, I'd rather not take a MINIMUM of 4 hours out of the convention to go into the snarl that is west LA traffic, just for food.

Considering that Compton and South Central are less than 5 minutes from this place, agreed.

Eh, crap... I won't be able to do it, either. Even though I finally have incentive to drive down on Saturday, doing dinner that far out will severely interfere with my plans to attend the Masquerade Ball.

Yeah. I think that if at all this would have to be the day after the con. Even then, a trip that is apparently so close to Compton and South Central is something that we should be very careful about. Especially at night.

I say we opt for someplace closer to the center itself. Then, if some of us still want to go to the Korean place, they can.

Or go there during the final half of the con. Weekends are the worst when comes to freeway traffic.

XD I understand if people don't want to go to LA. I just personally would love to eat in K-Town at one point, seeing as I'm in Cali. But if I can't, then oh well.

Edit: By the way, I didn't mean specifically Saturday. I'm fine with any day, really.

I am definitely NOT down with driving that long and far away from the ConvCen just to grub on ethnic foods. (You must also remember some of us are of age and enjoy spirited beverages).

Amen to that man... XP. I'd rather eat earlier too, especially since saturday is the big meetup, so we can hang out at dinner together.

Just look at the "Food" link on anime-expo.org, there's already plenty of places to eat at the harbor right across the street from the convention center. There's no reason to drive so far just to fill your stomach with food.

If anyone does decide to venture into LA, do so at your own risk. Us natives aren't kidding when it comes to the traffic problem, and if you do happen to get places in record time, good for you, you just happened to be lucky. Even So. Cali natives have been known to get lost in the LA area, particularly downtown. Also, I wouldn't recommend a specialty restaurant, no matter how good the food is, for a large group of people, most of which are new to the area. I know a great Thai place that everyone should eat at, but I'm certainly not recommending that people drive 75+ minutes to get there.

Better off driving eastward away from the convention center than heading further west, if you ask me.

I second this. There are few things in life that are as great as eating good friends with food.

iki, are you suggesting cannibalism?

Newsflash: If we eat anywhere across from the convention center, it's going to be PACKED regardless of the hour. I'd say our chances of having dinner together as a group on Saturday are better if we eat someplace further down the road from the building.
