I have. It's one of the few live action films I absolutely adore.

I'm about to see Watership Down. I've heard a lot about this animation, but I never was able to see it.

I LOVE that movie! Just the concept that someone could make an exciting, engaging movie that takes place in one room! When I saw this movie, I was inclined to agree with my dad that the best movies were made before the '60s.

Saw A Series of Unfortunate Events last night. Such a different movie... I love the gothic/Victorian appeal to it^^

Saw a bit of a classic Greta Garbo movie where she played Queen Christina of
Sweden.I loved the scene where the Spanish Ambassador shows up in the Swedish court in Stockholm and he suddenly realizes that the Queen is the woman he had
a romantic stay with in a inn during a recent blizzard.
btw:That is the first time in the movie that Garbo wears a dress, prior to that she is seen wearing trousers.

Seriously? I thought that was like one of the best NEWER Disney movies^^ Besides, there are some classics of theirs I've always hated, mainly pointing at their full-length animated feature. Just never liked it^^

Just watched The Da Vinci Code last night.....

You know what's funny? I actually thought it was well made and the story did intrest me a bit....

Before anyone jumps to conclusions here's why: The way Ron Howard presented the "historical facts" (Jesus marrying Mary, ect) was very acurate. Why? Well, think about it. The Da Vinci Code is a ficional book, so therefore Howard presented the facts as just that....fiction...

That's probably the reason a lot people didn't like it, becuase it wasn't "real" enough (that's fine with me; it's in the fiction section for a reason). Actually, after watching it I was surprised that those from the Catholic church weren't protesting when this movie first came out...

The Prestige last Friday, and Hook on Saturday.

Any film that has Nikola Tesla in it automatically catches my attention, but the Prestige keeps my attention AND interested with the sum of its parts. Christopher Nolan is a brilliant director. And Hook is just an old favorite from growing up. I refuse to accept the bashing this movie gets on IMDB.

The last good Disney animated feature

As for The Da Vinci Code, regardless of whether or not its "Historical accuracy" was to be taken with a grain of salt, plenty of people swallowed it as factual. Enough for my dad to have rather odd conversations with them.

Really? Hook actually gets bashed on there? Seriously, it's one of my favorite family movies of all time! I thought they did an amazing job of making an alternate sequel to Peter Pan.

You have no idea. Popular rating of 5.9, and pretty much all the reviews except for one are written by astoundingly humorless people .

The Great Northfield,Minnesota Bank Raid :thumb:
Ok,so it wasn't a great movie or anything but it was fun to watch. One of the highlights was the baseball game between St.Paul and Northfield, done the way they played ball back in 1876,rough and tumble and real cowpies!
The movie,of course, was about the James Gang famous botched raid of
the banks in Northfield,Minnesota.Though what was interesting was that Frank and Jesse James were pretty much side characters, the main character was Cole Younger who was portrayed as being rather outgoing and friendly person. In one scene he is even shown teaching a local Northfield boy how to shoot. The irony is that the boy later manages to shoot one of the James gang after the robbery.
And yes they really did photograph the corpses of dead outlaws back in the day.

My sister in Alaska sent my dad a boxset of old movies for Father's Day and we sat down and watched one yesterday. It was called Private Snuffy Smith and was based on the popular comic strip of the '30s and '40s 'Barney Google And Snuffy Smith'
about a bunch of Hillbillies.Basically Snuffy wants to join the Army so he can escape the 'Revnooers'.Pretty funny stuff.
The boxset also has such classics as the first ever movie Laurel & Hardy ever made together,The General which was Buster Keaton's famous silent movie about the theft of the Confederate train of that name by Union spies during the Civil War,
some Three Stooges, one of the Hope & Crosby road pictures, etc.

Not quite a movie again...but still...it was from a DVD...sort of...

Phantom performed by Takarazuka Flower Troupe 2006....except I didn't have the second act!! *runs in circles* Why oh why didn't my friend give me the second half!?

So far I really like it, but I thought Elisabeth by the Snow Troupe this year was better. Of course...I watched that live in Takarazuka, and it was the first time I'd seen Takarazuka, so I could be a little biased.

I just watched The Cat Returns today. It was good, but I thought the subtitles were a little odd. I'm wondering if they weren't just the script from the English version, but since it didn't have the English audio at all I couldn't tell.

Recently watched the Sakura Wars movie. The 3D animation was really good. Though the dubbing was rather disappointing.

The dubtitles on that one are very strong^^ Anyone who has some vocabulary knowledge can notice that they are some... off things about it^^

Dave.

My favorite presidential film, in part because it doesn't try making any "Sutble" jabs at either side of the spectrum, which I have found annoying in most other political films since forever. That, and it's a fine movie to begin with.
