Corrupt Christian music

For all the music-lovers out there, this is your place to swap lyrics, talk about new bands and jazz about concerts. All things related to the audio world belong here.

Postby Debitt » Mon Mar 08, 2004 6:40 pm

Just because a band's music (music, not lyrics, mind you) is compared to a secular band's music doesn't automatically make it the same as the secular band. :shake: I begin to wonder what these CCM people do in their spare times? Stand on a street corner praying? My goodness, it seems like they find evil in everything. EVERYTHING! Even CS Lewis, who was the author of Mere Christianity and the Screwtape Letters for goodness sakes!

Either that or trying to find faults in people without realizing thier own faults.

Or trying to figure out ways of how to use Compromise as many times as possible.

One thing I hate is how they point out th elittle things, like I saw a picture of Phil Keaggy pictured with P.O.D. on thier site.

The caption said "Phil Keagy pictured with the godless P.O.D." That urks me so.....

I read about Disciple. I gotta say their argument is pathetic. They give their crowd a good time and not bore them - how is that wrong?

I cried listening to "Wake". That song is powerful. Did they even read the lyrics?

EastWest
"Wake"

Now I see the end
And everything is gone
As I begin move
And I begin to see

That all I want to do
Is be in here with You
And all I want to do
Is to see Your face

You will wake me

And now I see this life
As it begins to shine
As I begin to move
And I begin to see

That all I want to do
Is be in here with You
And all I want to do
Is to see Your face

Now I lay here broken
Waiting to see you
With my eyes wide open

All I want...all I want...is to see Your face

Sounds like it's from Hell? Gimme a break. That's purebred opinion. I fall asleep to songs like this. If that's the case, then the Gaither Vocal Band is demonic.

>>>Look at this picture, Knapp reveals her proudful, rather than humble, heart!<<<

It's supposed to be prideful, not proudful! Yeah, they'll poke at our music, but they sure don't mention anything about their grammar...their next post will be something like...

Thowssand Fut Krutch is evel. This miusic will send u two hel.

Geez...grammar... :shake:

Icarus: no offense, man, but the target of worship (Christian music) should be God, not the unbelievers, and much less ourselves. As for not listening to music because you don't like it, well, that's a decision they (whoever it may be) must make.

Skynes: I'm not sure what you're saying. I believe that if music is hindering your walk with Christ, you shouldn't listen to it. Now if Christian Heavy Metal blesses you, well, that's between you and Christ. Does it keep your mind focused on the things above? Does it remind you that there is a spiritual plane to this existence? Do you remember the blessings of God? Just trying to help man.

[color=royalblue]None taken.

Replying to what you said to me, it would thus seem that the best definition of what T-Bone hopes to do is secular music with a Christian message. I'm okay with that. I guess it's more a witnessing tool than worship. The only problem is that the record labels and entertainment stores hear the message and say "Oh, he's a Christian. I can't put him in with the secular rot, the masses might get offended." And thus, the effectiveness is deminished. :sighs:

You know what I find mildly amusing?

CCM might stand for "corrupt Christian music", but it also stands for "contemporary Christian music". So...by their logic, aren't they evil too because they share an acronym with the evil Christian music? *shuffle, snicker*

Found this on christianrocklyrics.com...

Artist: Laudamus
Album: Lost In Vain
Song: Free

Some might think my hair is too long
Some might fear the beat of this song
So much religion, so many rules
But this is us and we are tools

He calls us to be free
Enjoy that freedom, friends
In time, we all shall see
Where man-made rules end

I might offend you by how I look
But God will not, according to His book
It's by our fruit that we will be judged
To show the world Jesus love

So keep the sheep together
No matter if one's shaved
Cause the wool means nothing
For all Christ came to save

I respect old-fashioned ways
Let's come together in His grace
Lord help us all to understand
How you can use a hard rock band
Uh-oh! Your sig have started to move! -- MOES.

................................ :shady: Do they have problems in there heads or something? They said Rebecca St. James' song 'Reborn' was new agey because of the music. WHAT!!! I have that song on a Cd and it's techno! I don't think it sounds new agey at all! And since when are we supposed to go by how music 'sounds' in deciding whether it's fine to listen to or not. I mean if it had agonized screaming or something i can understnad but 'Reborn' lifted me up spiritually and the lyrics are inspiring. I think we should pray for whoever wrote this sight. They obviously have some very mixed up moral values. :bang:

Wow how pathetic you think they could come up with something more useful to do with their time then slander artists. Like telling people about Jesus but nah they decide to put down the Christians that so many people look up to and they wonder why the youth is so bad :P I find it rather funny that they put up links with warnings like this

"Please Be Careful, this site does contain some sensually explicit pictures and content - due to the extent of
the musicians error and compromises these had to be included. Our hope is you become saddened, disturbed
and grieved - as we also have become - at the condition of these Christian Contemporary Musicians!
--- We do Apologize! ----"

"Our hope is you become saddened, disturbed
and grieved" Now what is with this! Since we don't like this lets make everyone else feel bad about it to. What a Christian like stance to take :P

Sorry! I meant like sounds of people dying explicitly or something. THEY RAGGED ON C. S. LEWIS!!! Ok, I was mildly amused before but now i'm downright offended! I beginning to think theses people are not christians at all but anit-christian trying to get genuine christians to doubt christian music. I know that christian muscians make some bad decisions and that there are some i wouldn't listen to because of there lyrics, etc. But i've read C.S. Lewis' mere christianity and screwtape letters and they are some of my favorite books. While i may question ore not agree with everything in them i believe tha Mr. Lewis makes many good insites and as a result of reading them I've grown in my faith. I strongly encourage everybody to read them and to pray for these people who made CCM.

i told myself i won't go there anymore cause 1) it was dragging me down to thier level 2) I was getting quite mad and 3) i was wasting my time complaining bout them.

I was going to email them bout how stupid they are and I did write to them but after I finished ryping the long letter on how offended I was by what they said. I thought making fun of them and calling them liers, etc wasn't the best Christian approach and didn't portray a Christ-like attitude, so I deleated it and never sent it.

You know what the thing these guys(and other anti-Christian rock people) have going for them? Because they supposedly listen to the "good" music, any music they don't like the sound of, they can call evil. But, hey, we can't do that...grr... :bang:

It's the old pearls before swine thing... good call dude.

I don't know how good doing that sort of thing is (I've heard it both ways, that it helps you get your fustrations out and get a clear handle on things or that it just riles you up more), but it does seem to work some of the time at least.

Oh, and that Courpt. CM site sticks ;) (<----- trying to stay on-topic  )

'mixed up' is too light a term for what I would use... But still, probably part of a group that believes that Christians are capable of NOT sinning at all.

[sarcasm]
And any Christian that does sin... Well They're obviously not a Christian, but a wolf in sheeps clothing, a pretender, a hypocrite.

But US! We're perfect!!! We sin not! We think not any evil! WE ARE PERFECTION!!!

I would like to point out that believers in Christian perfection do not have a monopoly on self-righteousness. Neither does belief in the earthly possibility of Christian perfection equate with the possession of it (I am proof). Also, your lampooning of said doctrine in application is about as extreme as a Catholic telling a Protestant that because they believe they are saved by grace through faith alone, they can and do sin all the more.

A correct understanding of the doctrine of Christian perfection would tell you that no person who condemns others so easily has the purified heart that the doctrine points to as reality: a pure heart means a humbled, kind, loving heart that is kept in such a state, and from the danger of pride in the "superior" sanctity one possesses as compared to others, only by the grace of God.
To all, life thou givest, to both great and small.
In all life, thou livest, the true life of all.
We blossom and flourish as leaves on a tree
And wither and perish, but naught changeth thee.
