Dallas, TX Anime Meeting

Postby Keely » Fri Mar 05, 2004 10:09 am

If you live in the Dallas, TX area, I am planning a fellowship for Christian Anime (& Sci-Fi) fans at my house in Little Elm (near The Colony & Frisco). I need to know what day would be best for everyone.

I'm hoping to have this every month, we can watch anime and then have a bible study. I'll also be inviting people from Fans for Christ & 3XR, and Anime Angels too. Right now, I just need to know how many from here would be interested, live in the area and what day/times are best for ya'll.

Friday night, after 7
Saturday from 12-3+
Saturday from 3-5+
Saturday from 5-8+
Late Satuday night
Sunday Evening from 3-5+

Also, which weekend is best, 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th of the month?

Man how I wish that I lived in Dallas. Nothing of that nature ever occurs here in my part of Mississippi.

Sounds fun. Be sure to tell the rest of us non-Texans how it went. What sort of fun things are you going to do?

I'm not too sure yet, it depends on who we have come. I was thinking we could watch either an anime series (start it one night and continue it through) or just different anime movies. I was also not sure if we should do a bible study using a book (like a leadership guide), or just do like an accountability thing....

Maybe we could do the Finding God In Lord of the Rings devotionals? I think a lot of anime fans would like that...any ideas?

Hey, the anime series thing would be cool. Any ideas on what you'll watch? Anime and a Bible Study - how cool. I hope you get an awesome turnout. It's also very good of you and your husband to open your home like that.

*sighs* ... and you're sure you don't want to hold this gathering a little closer to Maine?

Would you like me to sticky this thread so it doesn't get buried and then overlooked by any Texans?

Hmm...... I wonder how many ppl on this board live in tx.

well anyways..... I'm not in the Frisco area very often so

I probably can't. I'm only in Frisco when I'm heading for

church at Stonebriar.

Although a meeting like this is something to think about.

It does sound good. Tell me how it goes.

TX = best state? I've lived in many places yet I still dunno

if there is a best place.

Currently, a lota anime stores have

gone out of business in the dfw area(tx not too good for

finding anime stores). In terms of finding

anime, California and New York are my pick.

Scenery is good in Tenn., Mass., and Michigan.

TX i like because of the warmer weather. ^___^

I like many different places for different reasons.......

............. and I just notice I'm rambling incoherently. lol

Well, reading over my own post....... I sound like such a

scatter brain. lol....... anyway, I'm starting to think I'm just

typing randomly so I guess I'll stop right about..........now.

yes.........indeed..........................now...............absolutely.

*forever in search of brains........ the end.........*

umm...i guess my last reply didn't get posted. I was just joking about TX being the best ;)

Also, yes, I am serious about having people over, however I haven't had anyone say that they could, or when they could yet...I think it may just be that not enough ppl live close enough ::sigh::

You know, that would be an interesting concept. They have the Andy Griffith Show Bible Study, the Beverly Hillbillies and the I Love Lucy Bible Studies. Why not something like the Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar Bible Study or the Chance Pop Sessions Bible Study (just picking out names here). Hamtaro Children's Devotions? I might think about doing that for a future series in the Bible Study forum.

I live at the edge of the richardson/plano area. I'm about an hour away from Frisco. Maybe a 20min drive to Richardson. Plano, I can get to really quick.

If ya'll wanna meet, I'd prefer someplace closer in Richardson or Plano. Perhaps meet in a mall somewhere or at some starbucks. That usually works out.

Every now n then I'm at the Barnes n Noble at Richardson Square Mall just reading n drinking an icee. I dunno if theres alotta u guys in richardson though..... well, i see there is a least 1 other person. lol

Well, I see your point, keely. Distance will be a major factor for any future meetings. However, this is something to think about. Meeting ya'll would be nice.

The problem with meeting in a mall is that we can't really watch an anime there.. ^_^;;

Do ya'll have a time that would be good? Or a place halfway between where we COULD watch anime?
