Christian equivalences of secular music?

Postby Mave » Fri Mar 05, 2004 1:41 pm

Hi all,

I'm looking for a Christian equivalence of Coldplay. I'm shopping for a friend's birthday and she loves Coldplay very much. I thought it might be a good idea to get her a Christian version of that type of music. Any suggestions? ^^;

Switchfoot? Starflyer 59? I wouldn't know really, I don't listen to secular music, but that's just what I found based on my research.

Personally, I don't know! :sweat: That's why I'm asking...I'm sampling some of the music right now from amazon but I just can't tell what type of music it is yet.

and if I should try to find the equivalence i think maybe.... Bebo Normann or Geoff Moore... or maybe Switchfoot that Da Rabid Duckie mentioned...

Hmm Coldplay that's a tough one... I really don't have a clue sorry. Coldplay are too quiet and gentle for me to really know any bands that sound like them.... If you'd asked for Slipknot or Metallica I could have done that though :S

I honestly can't stand delirious? To me everything sounds the same... EVERY song all alike :S That and they give me a headache... (strange thing to say coming from someone who listens to Demon Hunter but they do!!!)

I'm not against them in anyway... I just don't like em :P

Delirious? is not that much alike Coldplay in my opinion...
Chris Rice can be... I like Chris Rice very much... "Deep enough to dream", but the style is "lighter" that coldplay.

I'm probably late, but I was thinking of D.C. Talk and Newsboys. Those are the only ones I'm familiar with. I listen to old-fashioned stuff and have no idea who Skillet or Switchfoot, or any of those guys, are. *huh*

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.
