codec issues

Postby LandmineLuv » Mon May 14, 2007 9:47 am

I've been trying to import some stuff into Windows Movie Maker. But everytime I try to, it keeps telling me that the codec needed to play it is not installed in my computer. I have Divx and all that. I even checked the little box in Options saying to download codec. What is going on?
Not right now, kiddo. It just makes me too sad.

What type of file is it? Where is this "little box in Options" saying to download the codec? Does the error message give any specifics as to which codec is missing? (unlikely..)

It's an avi file. It's a little box that tells you that it will download codecs automatically. I'm not told with one is missing.

Perhaps you could try installing a codec pack, such as K-Lite Codec Pack (just googled).

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm

It seems to cover quite a few, so I'd be surprised if one of them didn't support it (in which case it probably would be likely to be a corrupt file).
