The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Frankly I closed the window rather quickly.. .I've read too much of this sort of bile in the past to bother with it.

People like Swaggard preached this sort of thing for years, and look where it got him. :p

Frankly I'd question what effect they are having on the world... people complain about a lack of relevance to modern times in reference to Christianity and the Bible, yet these sort of people seem to promote a complete lack of relevance (yet hold to equally screwed up ideals, such as styles of music that where once used for far less religious things... I'd respect them more if at least they where chanting in Hebrew).

Now if you'll excuse me while I put on some Wierd Al, that site bummed me out a bit ;)

I'm torn...do I spend my time preparing answers to the nonsense on the site, or do I not waste my time, and just give my reaction?

Well it's late, so I will just say that it's garbage.

IT is somtimes better not to answer a fool in his own wisdom, for then he will consider himself wise...but Somtimes a man must answer to show others what comes of these things. I agree that the strength of men cannot aid this, yet I wrote what I believe God directed me to, so I may have a greater chance of reaching these people. Shatterheart, remember that we must love them, even though their foolishness is great. Hm, you already know that, I guess, but there are some who need to be reminded...We must give love, even if all we recieve is hate.

the person who made this site has problems. the arguements are pathetic at best. i'd like to see what would happen if the maker of this took all the judgements he heaps on others and measured himself with them. it'd be a different story then.

Demon Hunter are cool...

Rock, both secular AND Christian has it's roots in the black church. Not satanic church :P But you know those churches that are 90% black ppl that are always dancing and oyu can't sit still in one? Those.

Something that bugs me about the site is that they get names wrong. They got the members of DC Talks names wrong a few times, yet are able to quote Beatles and Black Sabbath history perfectly :S they also pull a lot of things out of context.

Umm...Actually, no. Your very wrong there skynes. Let me trace this: In Ancient Scotland, and in other places in Europe, there was Celtic music...And it stayed with the people of those countrys even after they came to the new world, and made music after that fashion. Now, for those who settled in the hills and mountains, this evolved into Bluegrass. Bluegrass evantually became country music. Now, country music is what Rock evolved out of, after combining with the sounds of blues, jazz, and other things that have their roots in bluegrass. And that is why Celtic music is the best, becuase without it, we wouldn't have half the types of music we do now....

It's a start. I wouldn't represent it as 'Corrupt Christian music' but as 'bad music period'. The Passion arguments aren't all that strong, but they're on the right track; Roman Catholoscism is only the tip of the iceberg.

OKAY THIS SITE IS MAKING ME VERY VERY ANGRY!!
sorry had to let that out!

I was reading the site regarding Michael W. Smith's "compromises and water down gospel" of the christian faith. and Dc Talks "straying away" and "backsliding" because withthin their concerts people with piercing's and Tatoos come....OOOOOOOO big shocker...

Sorry correct me if I'm wrong didn't Jesus say that it is the Sick who need help not those who already think their good enough...and i mean I don't really care bout piercings or nothing...no offense to those who have them...but do looks really matter that much!

Personally this person is looking to stay out of the world and live in a little hollow...

Jesus said for us to not conform to the world but to preach the gospel...and of course I'm not saying go all into to drugs so we can have something to talk about with druggies or do witchcraft to talk to witches...

But if she can't stand people are unique and different then she is not only living out of the world but is losing communication with the world! Jesus assosciated with sinners..as he does now...WHY CAN'T WE??? I mean Jesus did and he didn't become a sinner like the Pharisee's and pagan said...so Aren't we to follow HIS EXAMPLE???!!!!!

this person reminds me of a Pharisee..one who thinks she has the right to judge others "How can you get rid of a speck in your friend's eye if their is a log in your own?"

Okay that's my two cents...Praise God that he gives us difficult people and sinners (including me) so that we may know His love and grace all the more!

LOL Zilch..hmm....should make for interesting music...personally I don't see why people care about Type of music... if they say that traditional hymns are the "true" music of the gospel they're ignorant..

Today we don't even have many of the instruments used in the old testament and new testament...as they have been replaced or destroyed...
and if God says make a joyful noise...He does not specify how or with what instruments...

Ignorance may be bliss but it can be the downfall fo many!

sorry forgot to add something regarding the person's Corrupt Christian music website:

I respect this person's beliefs of what she believes...but I don't condone any of it and strongly disagree with it...but she is entitled and proabably believes what she is writing is both true and should be known...

Just wanted to add that!

<but do looks really matter that much!>

Yes they do. The Bible commands that you not desecrate your flesh. Pierceing angers me more than tattoos though. Men shouldn't pierce their ears. At this stage of history, only women should.

<Jesus assosciated with sinners..as he does now...WHY CAN'T WE??? I mean Jesus did and he didn't become a sinner like the Pharisee's and pagan said...so Aren't we to follow HIS EXAMPLE???!!!!!>

Jesus was God. He knew their hearts. We should not associate with sinners outside of the Gospel. If we share the Gospel with them; fine, we should. But they are on the road to Hell, and we don't even have enough oil to keep our candles alight. We can't save sinners.

I understand with what your coming from... and I understand how you feel...I definitely agree with not participating in their actions as they are ignorant of their sin... However I have pagan friends (literally pagan) and though I don't participate in their actions and they have tried to get me too...They respect my decision of faith and some have even asked about God and Jesus too because of it!!!

This is of course my personal opinion...I believe that staying sorrounded by those who share my faith is a must...but I also believe that making friends with those who are on a hell bent road is also of equal importance.

Like I said my personal opinion and if people disagree with me that's fine and if I'm wrong in this area..I pray God will reaveal the truth in this area. And i mean that with the upmost sincerity!

I don't think we should hide under a rock, but tolerance is a dangerous word. Ultimately it's the Bible that decides our policy's, and even then that's not our policy, it's God's. Oh well, thanks for being mature.

I've been thinking.

Perhaps the question is not whom we mix with but what we DO when we are with them.

Ex:

If I hung out with my non believer friends, I could choose to:
1) Go with them to a bar, maybe take a drink or two and chat with them
2) Or I could decline to go to the bar, but agree to eat out somewhere else and still chill with them

Option 1) seems like the stumbling block option because I chose to follow the crowd
Option 2) I still maintain my friendship with them but I don't compromise my do's and don'ts.

In the case of christian artists, I personally think it's fine to hang out with secular bands but they must be careful not to be influenced by them (i.e. they need to be wiser with whom they chose to be associated with and watch how they act around the secular ones). If they maintain their stand as christians, ppl will notice the difference (well at least I hope they do). I think a christian artist is in trouble once they start doing things that's the secular band does...piercing?? Social smoking? Bodysurfing? Everyone to their own conviction but everyone's gotta watch out for the small things coz they can be a catalyst to more serious sins.

Jesus hanged out with sinners but he never compromised holiness. That made the difference. Just my two cents. ^^ Opinions are welcomed.

well I can see where they are coming from that they view these artists as leaders in the Christian community and they should act as role modles but then again they are not all perfect and the writers of the site focuses on that aspect. I just feel sorry for a unbeliver, reads the site and assumes all christians are hyprocrites and stuck up people.

I read what they thought of Lord of the Rings. I had to restrain myself from emailing them and bashing on them. ::rollseyes::

Lol, that site makes me mad and makes me laugh at the same time, it's that rediculous. No where in the Bible does it say that the worshipping of God is restricted to looking sombre and singing songs that sound like funeral marches. (and woe to the thought of actually drinking alcoholic beverages! I'm sure Jesus actually drank Juicy Juice at the Last Supper.)

Anyhoo, as piercing and tattooing was mentioned earlier in this thread (and in some of the reviews on that site), here's my take on it:

I see absolutely nothing wrong with body piercing. As long as it doesn't endanger your physical health, I think it's fine. I mean, piercing parts of your body only to attract attention (mainly the opposite sex) is wrong, but piercing your ears, eyebrows, nose, etc. I have no problem with. If women can pierce their ears, why can't men? Aren't women and men equal in God's eyes?

Tattoos... in my opinion, they're not much different than piercing. Both piercing and tattooing are "changing" your body from the way it originally was. Your body is a temple of God, and so long as you are not defiling it (like tattooing yourself with occult stuff, etc.) I think there's nothing wrong with tattooing or piercing. It [i]does[i] look rediculous when overdone, though.

By the way, J.R.R. Tolkien was Roman Catholic as well, and a close friend of C.S. Lewis. I wonder why they didn't take any time to bash him as well. (if they did, I didn't see it)
