Except that our rate of growth is far from constant. Exponential, as a matter of fact. But ah well. As you said, just for fun.

I agree with uc pseudonym - the CAA's growth rate has been exponential instead of a straight line]

It will be rather interesting to see the actual graph you are planning, ThaKladd. It will require a lot of research, etc. etc. Good luck! ~_~

as I edited and told... it was wrong, the first chart.. sorry about that.. (i did not think)

It is not right because the dates is not by month, but by members...

I made a new one, and this time it is right!! ;)

note: it's based on the member number, not the actual members... example: The newest member is Ripton13 and he is nr 1399 - but there is only 1230 members... but still I think the chart gives a idea of the growth.

Hey, that's pretty cool. Now if we could see a comparison chart of how many members actually post. ;)

That is a little bit harder :)

there should be stats for every person.. or total stats.. many IRC channels have that..

Hmm. It'd be interesting to try some curve fitting algorithms. I'm wondering if the growth might not be ploynomial rather than exponential. It's definately not linear in any case.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Yea.. I could try that...

*a sec later*

let me see.... the best formula, according to my calculator(Casio fx-9750G) is y=ax^2+bx+c with a=7.45 b=68 c=-78

Using the Table function I then can see if its show the right numbers for the first 10 months that the chart showed... and Yes! it is +-50 in the start, but +-5 in the end.

The future looks like this:
26. March = member number is up in 1570(-180 = 1390 members)
26. April = member number is up in 1810(-190 = 1620 members)
26. May = member number is up in 2065(-200 = 1865 members)
26. June = member number is up in 2335(-210 = 2125 members)
26. July = member number is up in 2620(-220 = 2400 members)

so.. now we are waiting to se if its going to be fullfilled.. this little statical prophecy of mine... ;)
