What is this show: 009-1?

I heard about some show ADV licensed called 009-1. What's it about?

009-1 is base from the Shotaro Ishimori's manga 009-1 that was done in the late 60's.

If you have seen Shotaro Ishimori's other work like Cyborg 009 and Kikaider. Then you know what the art will look like.


Don't think this is a new verison of Cyborg 009, because its not.

The plot to the story is,

The Cold War never ends and has be going on for 140 years. The world is spilt up into groups, the west block and the east block. The tension has rise between the two sides to a high level.

Mylene Hoffman (code name: 009-1), who is a female cyborg is a spy for the west block. Her and a few more agents take care in spy missions that are order from their boss.

Think of a female James Bond and you know what you get.

I think they rated it TV-MA mostly for nudity and violence. I mean, the picture on ANN looks pretty risque. It seems like a good show though.

If think about it, it James Blood meets charlie angels.


The anime does look a bit fanservicey, but that is a giving on the nature of the show.
