It'll be fansubbed within days of it's released in April, I'm sure.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. The Counte of Monte Cristo with....mecha and aliens?! How can that be good?

I knew she was refering to the anime based on it, but she used the original title so I had to correct it.

Since neither you nor I have seen it, I can't say. What I can say is that there are a great many people who have enjoyed this show, and we should try to avoid controversy by not saying things that might be inflammatory. Remember, everyone's entitled to their opinions, and those opinions are often as different as we ourselves are. With that in mind, let's try to be gracious.

If we need to discuss this further, please PM me. With that said, let series discussion continue.

What, because you're a guy? Guys can dig the shojo too, y'know just like girls can prefer shonen anime.

I think it might be worth watching. I just got done watching Howl's Moving Castle half an hour ago and knowing that the same people did it made this anime seem all the more appealing. I've never read Romeo and Juliet(and never plan to) so hopefully this will be quite a refreshing anime.

I'm surprised they're not using the same animation style as used for Gankutsuo.

And Tom, Gankutsuo is based off of The Count of Monte Cristo. That means it doesn't have to be word for word. Yeesh.

I'm not a big fan of Romeo and Juliet, but productions like this steadily increase the chance that there will someday be an epic animation of War and Peace. Ride on, GONZO! For great justice!

Me neither. I think Shakespeare wrote much better plays than R&J. Julius Caesar, Macbeth, The Tempest, et cetera.

A new trailer for Romeo X Juliet is out now. The song at the ending is the OP theme for the anime and the song name is you raise me up by Lena Park.

I was able to see ep one of the the show last night. It was in raw format and I didn't understand a word of it. But from what I saw of it, other then not knowing what they were saying. I can say that the art and music was very nice.

Was it supposed to be an english song originally or something? Doesn't sound familiar...

Well, raws are out of it, but soon enough SOMEONE is bound to sub it, or the usual 10 subbers subbing it when it comes out, but in the end only like, 2 people commit to doing the whole thing. I wonder how long it'll end up being?

Yeah, it was originally in English. I actually have a bit of a hard time taking it seriously...XD; That's just me, though.

Anyways, after seeing the second trailer, I think this series looks very promising, and I can't wait until someone subs it. :D

Luckily, the accompanying animation was quite appealing, IMHO. Now, granted, it didn't exactly compensate for the fact that the theme song is "You Raise Me Up," but it did make it less ludicrous than I thought it would be.

Eww. So I heard the ending theme...It doesn't fit the series at ALL. XD Both the OP and ED can be heard/seen here.

Compared to the ending, the opening's really not all that bad. @_@ I'm still really looking forward to this, though. XD

That's why the OP doesn't bug me at all. After watching the ep raw and hearing the OP and ED, I hated the ED song.

One thing to point out. The OP and ED have been list as OP #1 and ED #1. So, maybe there will be a better OP and ED theme later on.

Aww, I didn't think the ending was that bad. Peppy and generic perhaps (accompanied by some REALLY boring animation), but not terrible.

Now here's what I think they should have done: make the ending theme the opening theme and the opening them the ending them. The atmosphere of the ending them much better fits the mold of an opener, and the mellow feeling that the ending theme creates would seem to lend itself to being an end theme.

Well, finally got around to watching ep 1 of it (the umai I think it was, subs never worked for me, although they were well-seeded so I had to wait for Shinsen and then get hte time to watch it :/)

Anyhow, I thought it was really good^^ Not really one for the renaissancey genre, but I thought this is done well^^ Held my attention over and one of those shows where you're like "it's over already?? I want more v_v..." I was surprised to see how "Willy" even made it in as a character as he works on his play "Otello" (tsk tsk engrish^^). Quite an... amusing character he be^^ Then again, all the characters sort of have different personalities. A nice alternate universe^^ (And I wasn't really a fan of the play to begin with, but somethign about this caught my interest^^)

Meant to say "their subs" since I couldn't even start a download off them, no matter how well it was seeded :/

BTW it's seeding in its original raw version on http://anime.goo.ne.jp/special/gonzo/romejuli/movie/index.html.
It's good but the ED is mediocre.
