Education

Talk about anything in here.

I've been in a private Christian school since 5K. XD It's a tiny school (5K-12th grade, and there's a little under 300 kids), but that makes it close-knit in a way, and I've always liked that. You know the teachers well, and the small classrooms make for good one-on-one teaching. It's certainly somewhat of a different experience than public school or a larger environment would provide, but I've enjoyed it for the 13 years I've been a part of it. XD

I did all my pre-college education in public schools, and did by BA/MS work in private schools.

I now work in public education.

I'm a strong believer in the idea that, if you are motivated, you can get out of it what ever you put into it.

Thank you for moderating yourselves. Just to be clear: this is not the place to discuss theology, even as it relates to public/private schools. If you have a concern or wish to talk to someone seriously, use a PM.

I agree whole-heartedly. The people in my graduating class, some of whom were in many of the same courses as I, are all over the spectrum as far as actual education goes.

I also agree that education really is what you make of it. Elementary through High School I was in private school, public school, and I was homeschooled for a year, and then I received my BS/MS from a public university, so I've had a pretty broad school exposure. The biggest constant I've seen is that you usually learn as much as you want to learn, and though you may have trouble with terrible teachers (like the one who told my mother I was going to become a criminal), if you put forth the effort, you'll generally come through ok.

I've been homeschooled my entire life [okay, I went to a Christian preschool], and I'm going to a private Christian college this fall. I totally agree with the sentiment that you get what you put in.

Sorry about that...it just sounded rather harsh.

Just out of curiosity for those of us who have been and those who are currently going to a Christian College/University what denomination is your college/university
affliated with?
My oldest sister went to Northwest Nazarene back in the 1970s when it was still
Northwest Nazarene College(it's Northwest Nazarene University now)and both of my parents went to Whitworth, which is affliated with the Presbyterian church.
The college I went to is affliated with the Christian Reformed Church.
