Did you just say "Snow" from RHCP?
Wow, an American band in a Japanese film.
Didn't see that one coming.

Wait, you didn't know there was going to be a movie before hand?

Here's a question:
How horrible do you think it would be if they had the story take place in America and had American actors (preferably not famous, yet good) for the Americanized, yet non-existent version?

I BT'd the first movie and the second one (rarely seeded :/) is still progressing through... Sooo I haven't seen either yet^^ Luckily I found them with subs (as much vocab as I know, I just prefer it to get 100% out of the show^^)
And don't forget, there's a third one coming out about L, supposingly...

独り 子 を 信じる 者 が 一人 も滅 ひない で, 永遠 の 命 お得る ため で ある。

Are you aware the filming is complete? If not and you just meant theoretically, I'm fairly ambivalent. There has been a trend of making American versions of Japanese horror films and I could almost see someone picking up Death Note. Provided they didn't do anything terrible to the story I can't say it would matter much to me.

Happens a lot more than you think.

Trailer for Save the Green Planet
Odd movie, but I rather enjoyed it, save for the ending.

In my share of watching Asian-To-American films, the only remake I saw that was remarkably good was The Departed, though I did prefer Infernal Affairs though. Of course, The Departed did have some elements in which was superior to the original. But overall, the original takes the cake.

But remakes in general fall short of the originals, save for a few films.

I really really need to see the Death Note movie. The manga has me totally addicted. But I can't get a fansub (at least not off this computer) so I'll just have to wait until it maybe possibly gets shipped over here.

Despite how sharp looking the Death Note films appear, I'm apprehensive about any comic-to-live-action adaptation. And I've seen the 3D renderings of Ryuk, and frankly, I think he belongs on ink and paper, not amongst the land of the living.

Although I do have high hopes for the planned 20th Century Boys movie in 2008~.
