Pet owners please help!

Ok, I know this sounds both disgusting and odd, by I am at my end and don't know what to do or who to turn to...
My three-year-old male cat-and my baby- Kitty is been acting strange lately. He has always been good about staying inside, but here in the past two weeks, he has been going "potty" inside. He usually is discret about going "potty", but now he does it openly and on clothes I put in the floor when I sort laundry. I let him out, but he won't go. So when I close the door after offering to let him out, he goes and "pottys" on a shirt a few feet away from me. I don't know what to do....and until he stops, he cannot come inside. I love my Kitty, he means so much to me....he helps me sleep at night and the whole enchalada. So please, if any of you can help...I seriously appreciate anything you can tell me. Thanks in advance.

My cat did the same thing, and he had a bladder infection or something like that.

Yeah, take him to the vet. Even if there is nothing physically wrong, they can help you identify any potential psychological stuff that might be affecting your cat.

Male cats also mark their territory... this could be what he is doing... you might want to keep him outside..^^;

True....He was at the vet a month or so ago, though. He seems to be acting out about something....he whole personality is different. Kitty is an outside cat, but comes in frequently, and is a only cat. I jsut don't understand what the problem might be. If there is one thing I know, it is my Babuschka. I just wish I knew what was bothering him so for him to keep doing this...he knows not to.

hmm. so nothing new has beeen introduced lately? and abotu the baldder infection, that happened with my parents dogs before. so I dunno don't have too much experience with cats

Are there any new cats in your neighborhood or dogs for that matter?
Also it might not be his bladder could the vet check to see if his prostate has gotten enlarged lately?

Uh....no. Kitty is an outside cat, but has been trained to go to the door when he has to go. I don't think there is something physically wrong, because he recently went to the vet for his annual exam. I think Mitsuki might be on to something about a new cat in the neighborhood....but I haven't seen one and I don't understand why he would potty inside.

I had a cat that did the same thing and he had sand in his bladder. They had to catheterize (sp?) him and everything. He was lucky to have survived that.
My brother also had a cat that started doing the same thing - going right in front of him on the bed, in the bathtub, anywhere you could easily see that he went. He also had sand in his bladder, but they didn't realize he was trying to tell them something and it got to be too late by the time they got him to the vet and they had to put him to sleep. It was too serious and required major surgery to fix and they weren't even sure it would help him.
Anyway, get him to the vet, even if he was there a month ago. This could have developed since then. If it's not sand in the bladder, well at least then you know. But better safe than sorry.

I agree no matter how recent it was that he was at the vet last it would seem that another trip would be necessary to clear up wheter or not it's something organic.

I would agree -- take him back to the vet. If the vet wasn't specifically looking for bladder problems during the last visit, he could easily have missed it. OR it could have happened since the visit.

The only other thing I can think of... Is there anything unusual happening in your household? Any remodeling going on, or any new stresses? Have you changed his food lately?

Another thing -- are you sure his food is not on the pet food recall list?

I totally forgot about the pet food issue. Yes, definitely look into that possibility.

I really hope you're able to find out why he's been like this...

Maybe a neighbor has gotten a new cat that is a bully and your cat doesn't want to go out because of thaht. The same thing happened to our cat but she eventually got better if we put her out earlier in the day.

Ok well here is what I have to say. I work at a petstore so the best advice I can give is to definatly take him to the vet. There is no way you can possibly know anything certain without taking him to the vet.
Also, do check that pet food recall list. He could be having an allergic reaction to something in the food, and also sometimes food companies change their formula. He could react to something. I know that many animals are allergic to wheat, so maybe you should try some organic or holistic cat food. I know that Wellness, Prairie, Evolve, and Blue Buffalo are some really good cat foods. They are made with all natural ingredients, and they have various formulas for cats.
They are very healthy and good for your cat.

If you wouldnt mind, could you tell me the cat food you give him?
