Regret

Postby Destroyer2000 » Tue Apr 03, 2007 5:07 am

Almost everyone has done something stupid they regret doing in the past, correct? Something such as drinking, smoking, that sort of thing. I realized that yesterday. And I also realized that I have never done anything stupid like that. It makes me aware that I am different from many in that respect. However, the things we do cause wounds, whether they be emotional or physical, and before those wounds can begin to heal, they must be acknowledged. Some people think they deserve the pain it caused them because of their own stupidity, and a wound embraced cannot possibly begin to heal. How can you make someone talk about their past so that you might help them heal? I have someone close to me, whom although I am not sure, I believe has something eating them away. As the topic of the past came up in a conversation yesterday, I could hear a twinge of regret enter into their voice.

Does anyone have experiences similar to this?

It takes bad jokes to appreciate the good ones.

The thing it, it isn't bothering me. I take care of my own problems rather quickly, without much trouble. It's just those that I care about, when something is affecting them and I can't help them...it bothers me. And when it is the one person I would hate most to see hurt, then it causes more worry.

Yeah. I understand. I'll still be praying that the situation is resolved, and both hearts are healed quickly.

Oh yes, I'm quite familiar with regret.

Also, you can't honestly tell me you've never regreted anything, even for just a second. That's like saying you've never lied. Everyone has done it a few times in their life, even if they don't remember it. Hooboy have I done things I've regretted. Some of those regrets I renegged on. The night I bought my Mac I got it home, unpacked it, and started to panic. I started thinking, "What on earth have I done?! I just spent 1200 dollars on something I'm not even familiar with!!"

Ah, Regret. An old drinking buddy who wears a different face every time we meet. Good times, good times.
With your doubt, all is comfort
We are all as we appear
No more questions left unanswered
No more wonder, no more fear
Nothing is beauty, nothing's feeling
Blood where there once was a soul
So I ask you, prove yourself
Make me believe that you are whole

Seriously you get over your regrets. It is just that some people have a morbid tendency to mull over them a tad bit too long. But really what is done is done
and as the saying goes there is no use in crying over spilled milk.In other words
you have to learn to get on with life.Mistakes just help to teach us what we shouldn't do and hopefully we pick up on the lessons and move on and do better the next time around.
And yeah I regret things from time to time but it doesn't mean I let regret ruin
the future for me.I mean the present and future are what is important not what may have happened in the past.Unless you invented a time machine you can't go back and replay that part of your life.So you have to learn to get over it.

That must make it difficult to find him at bars.

He comes in after you do. Or with you, more often than not. I don't have many problems dealing with regret myself, but helping others with it is difficult.
