I've never been able to do basic yo yo up and down action, let alone tricks! How on earth do you do it? I tried many times in my childhood. Never worked out.

Does anyone remember Gumby?, the little green plasticine boy who has adventures in books. It got even better when the Block Heads (evil characters) were introduced. Lots of orginal fun!

the 80's. Thompson Twins, Dukes of Hazard, A-Ha, and Miami Vice. Having massive GIJoe wars in the living room (driving my mother crazy for a week).

wahaha.

i remember pogs - i collected them and never played with them because i didn't want to lose them to other people, i still have them at my family's house. i remember one kid beating another up with his slammer :wow!: . third graders, sheesh.

my little sister had a furby, which instantly removed any desire i had to have one, having something that will start screaming in nonsense at any hour of the day wasn't too appealing...

i had a nano-pet, a dog i think, i actually managed to keep it alive for quite a while, but got bored with it.

my little sister had one of those dog robot things that does tricks and has a bone... robo-dog, or something like that

does anyone remember the skip-it thing that slipped over one ankle and counted how many times you spun it around and jumped over it with your other foot?

and how about the slap bracelets? when i was little, we weren't allowed to have them in school because kids were running around hitting each other with them...

and those 'secret diaries' that you could send messages to friends who had the same thing with, and record memos and phone numbers, and there was a dog creature you could raise and train...

I remember alot of those crazes. I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I used to be huge on the beanie babies, but now I'm selling all but a few. Some have some sentimental value and I figure if I ever have kids they might like them.
As for the Pokemon cards, hey, I'm still in that craze. Not as much as other things for sure, but I still have a whole ton and get more every now and then, but then I am a Pokemon nut. ;)

[quote] I remember I used to kill my tamagochis. Lol, I think it killed it once by overfeeding it. I think it may have exploded, not sure. Lol. All the other times I just didn't feed it. I remember one of them broke (I had several bc my friends would give them to me when they got too annoying; how nice of them) and it just kept beeping and beeping and beeping... hours and hours straight. I started beating the thing with a hammer and it still wouldn't break. So in the end, I wrapped it up in towels and shoved it in the bottom of my sock drawer. Couldn't hear it, but I still wonder... why didn't I just throw it out? Lol. [quote/]

My gigapet drove me nuts. I actually sent a mail order for a Barbie gigapet that had a cat. It didn't last long, annoying contraption. Pogs were actually banned at my grade school in Albuquerque, something about people playing for keeps and losing expensive slammers. Power Rangers, I loved that show! I remember discussing it like it was so important. I also had (and still do) My Little Ponies like crazy. I become very upset when my dad told me he was throwing them out when I was eight, so I hid my favorites away and I still have them! Does anyone rmemeber those weird toys that were a dodgeball with a disk around that you jumped with? I thought those were weird when I was in kindergarten. Another early fad: Cabbage Patch dolls. I never was one for dolls, so it didn't matter to me but I remember them because they were everywhere.

I bought a furbie at a yard sale once, just to find out what it was like. I wanted to teach it to yell out insults at people. The darn thing wouldn't learn anything. It is no longer bothering people.

Uhhmmm...Rubik's Cube, Jean Jackets, Moon Boots, Michael Jackson Gloves (yes, 'fraid so), Cabbage Patch Kids, Garbage Pail Kids, Transformers, Pet Rocks, Micro Machines...

And those G.I. Joes, the little ones. We'd twist and twist their torsos and try to make them spin, but they broke all too easily.

I remember the other fads mentioned as well...

Awesome. I remember Jem. My brother thought I was a nut for liking the chick cartoon. I didn't know it then, but Jem was definitely a hint of my future anime fandom. She was truly outrageous.

Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, and CardCaptors.

Those were uber popular back in the day. That and kids' meals. But the toys aren't popular anymore. Probably because these days, the toys suck.

Next were those gellistic glitter pens. Kids in my class used to draw on hands, arms, feet, ankles and make drawings or symbols. The popularit of that has died out.

And for some reason, these days, people tend to think giving people a "Thumbs Up" or "High-Five" or coming up with "secret handshakes" is pretty lame. I don't get it...

And last, among girls, getting piercings is not that interesting. Somehow that has moved onto guys. A sure fad that will die out soon and is dieing out already.

Welcome to CAA, spirit. On this forum [like many others], it's usually not encouraged to post in a topic that has gone without activity for a long period of time. This is known as "gravedigging" or [as I like to call it] "thread necromancy".

It's not a big deal, but it's something to keep in mind. Enjoy the forums!

lets see, most of the stuff from old times I got recently at thrift stores. My original furby finally died off, won't work. So every time we went to the thrift store my parents bought me a new one. I now have *not with me though* about 8 adults and 4 babies. Plus the graduation one my parents bought me from ebay *still in the box* the first tamagotchi I got I found on the school playground, turned it in, and since no one claimed it, he became mine! then i bought later a clear purple one. then at a thrift store I found a clear black one, and a tamagotchi angel. I also have the 101 dalmation giga pet and the giga pet version of Pikachu *the one in color*. Pogs, I had a lot of those. I remember back at the sherrif station down in Los angeleswhere my dad worked, they had this whole sheet of pogs that had to do with DARE and against crime stuff. I think he still has a few of those. yeah, lots of good stuff. I hate how I walk through the isles now and see all the new and improved toys of old.( Polly pocket, little pet shop, strawberry shortcake, etc) I mean, for the kids who don't know about the old stuff they really don't care, but to me who knows what the old stuff was, it's hard for me to take a liking to the new stuff.
