the Wacom Graphire4 6x8 USB Tablet. Is this any good? I've read a lot of excellent reviews on it. It seems to be perfect for what I need. I plan to use it for animation purposes. I figure it will be easier than trying to use a mouse in paint. so, is this a good one to get? Are there any suggestions for other brands or tablets to use? *i'd like to stick with the 6x8 size or around that*

Hmm... Hi Bakura, I don't particuarly know that model but I have the Wacom Graphire3 6X8 USB graphics tablet and it works a treat. Bit of a learning curve if you're used to the mouse though. But it is easier than a mouse after awhile.
It's low-to middle of the range but Wacom are quality know matter the model.
I think it's a great choice! If I can recommend the Graphire3, the Graphire4 can only be better! Good luck mate.

thanks. yeah. ^_^ There's like a $5 difference between ebay and amazon. so even if I don't get the one on ebay, it's not like the one on amazon will be too much more expensive. well, I'll wait and see about other comments for a bit I guess.

Woah. That's irony for you. I was just talking with someone from Wacom at a conference I went to. They were demoing this bad boy:

It's pretty sweet. I guess that's not too much help for you (it's more or less cost-prohibative for practically everyone), but it's pretty cool, nonetheless.

yeah. that's really neat. however, I'm trying to stick to $200 or under. lol. As nice as that would be to have. *nods*:bang: seriously, who could afford that. =_=; ok. that was a rhetorical question, I know some people who could. . .:hits_self

If one made their living doing drawings on the tablets, I can see someone buying it as an investment - it would let them do things much faster...

well, who knows. maybe someday I'll get it, since I plan to have a career in art. ^^, mostly I want this tablet cause my husbands designing a game and he wants my help drawing the characters and animations and what not. so i figure it'd be easier to draw with a pad than a mouse. ^_^

I'm pretty sure this is the model my boyfriend uses (and I've played on). If this is indeed the case, I definitely recommend it; though W4J is right, it does take some getting used to.

I think it's worth the investment.

You're pretty safe going with any Wacom tablet. Just make sure and download the newest drivers for it. It should help you avoid any setup/config difficulties.
And yes, drawing with a pen is way better than a mouse once you get used to it.

I'll mirror what everyone else has said and encourage you to buy it. XD I have a Wacom Graphire 6x8 myself, and it works very well. Good luck with buying one! :D

The model you describe is the exact one I use and it is a dream to work with. Give it a shot!

I use the Wacom Graphire 6x8, not sure which model number. After getting used to it - I'd never go back to using a mouse. I find it quicker, and it's actually better for your hand than using a mouse. It's pretty intuitive, so you should be able to grasp it pretty quickly.
