Content in Ergo Proxy

Postby Kawaiikneko » Sat Apr 22, 2006 2:08 pm

I saw a trailer for this and LOVED the animation, but I was wondering about the content in the series, since ann rated it M. Is there alot of sexual content, or is it just violence? And how is the story line from a Christian perspective?

Thanks in advance ^^

yea im on episode 5 of it, I was looking for a "Christian" review for it, so far there has been blood but not a ton of it (not ridiculously overbleeding people lol), there are a few "S - words" now and then, but thats it for swearing so far, as for sexual content/nudity, there has been none except one short scene, the main character (girl) gets home from work and starts the water to the shower, she is wearing a tank top and shorts from what i can remember, shes about to remove her top but she stops for some reason (I don't want to spoil that part but nothing is shown), its a pretty deep plot, ive just started to peice things together, hopefully we can get a better review soon?

I've watched up to ep.18 on fansubs and I don't recall anything really objectional. It's a very mature series (complex, and no excess crap. If I remember correctly) Not to mention dark~ But really, it's one of the very best animes to come out in a while

I've only seen the first eight episodes. This is a dark and deeply thoughtful anime which really keeps you guessing. So far there has been pg-13 level language and yes, is has been quite bloody, but not gory. It has a 16+ rating on the box. There are many philosophical references both in the names of episodes and characters. Being existential in nature, I don't expect this anime to develop any sort of a Christian world view. Especially since,
there are mysterious beings existing in the world which are described as gods or life-forces, in that they are sentient and supposedly immortal. But in truth they act more like monsters than anything else. Their existence and purpose are one of the driving mysteries behind Ergo Proxy.
That said, I'm enjoying this anime immensely and can't wait for disc 3 to be released next week. This series is not for the impatient or people who need their facts spelled out and it's certainly not for young audiences.

This is one series I like. Not your typical shonen or shoujo crap. I'd put this in more of the "Seinen" crowd, which is a genre I am a major fan of.

Heh, tell me about it. The suspense is driving me nuts...I wanna knoooowww!! Yes, it might be wise to wait. That way if you get hooked, you won't suffer too long. I just hope this series has a good ending. I'll be really disappointed if it doesn't live up to my dramatic expectations.
