Which side of your computer screen do the icons appear on?

1 The Left
2 The Right
3 I can control it, so it doesn't matter.

The left. I only have 4 so there's no reason to move them.

At home, I keep mine to the left and my taskbar at the bottom. But at work, my icons are a bit more scattered and my taskbar is to the right so my phone dialing bar stays on the bottom of the screen.

I keep mine hidden completely. Messy desktops suck.
Embraced by a gentle breeze, my heart breaks as I think of you.
All alone at the top of the hill, I watch as the seasons go by.

I have mine organized on the left and right hand sides of the screen.

My Computer, My Docs, folder shortcuts: Upper left corner.

Gaming Shortcuts: Upper Right corner

Recycle bin: Lower right corner.

Temporary Downloads: Lower left Corner.

This just makes sense to me, for whatever reason.

The upper left corner, in rows of about 4-5. It's semi-convenient to categorise them that way rather than, say 2 per row down the side. And I don't like them going too far down the screen. And I like the Recycle Bin all by itself on the bottom right.

I hate icons with a passion. They have been banished from my desktop forever. I happily use just the start menu.

My icon placement varies with my wallpaper's design. I always try to use a wallpaper that has an open spot large enough for the majority of the icons that I use. Temporary icons get placed in smaller open spots.

Right now, they are mostly placed on the left-hand side of the screen, with a small block in the middle for programs that I use frequently. There are some short-term icons in the right upper and lower corners.

You'd hate my desktop then. A little while back, I had icons EVERYWHERE. The spanned two entire desktops. And it was useless zip, rar, txt, mp3, and avil files. Not to mention all these random folders.

What about the Quick Launch menu? Is that also banished to the realm of indescribable loathing?

:D Yep~!

I actually visibly cringe when I see a desktop with a lot of icons. I can't describe WHY they irk me so, but they do. XD; Poor icons.

I'm with Kokoro. Quick Launch, Desktop Icons, away with the lot of them. I don't even have My Computer or Recycle Bin, just my Start bar and my wallpaper. I'd auto-hide the Start bar too if it wasn't so annoying with some programs.

The icon dock is vaguely tolerable, but still makes me cry. =[

The only things that I keep on my desktop are things that I'm immediately working on, so generally, you can tell how busy I am by seeing how clean my desktop is.

Left, which is most likely to be dominant because that is where most computers start out with them, you'd have to reorganize them otherwise and... well... humans are too lazy to do that... plus it woudl feel wierd... unless you're a mac user :P.

On the left. Both in Windows and Linux my desktop has so many dang icons it's ridiculous, but it seems whenever I try to clean it up, it gets disorganized again. (Kind of like my room! :p )

haha... I need to clean up my icons.. ROFL..

I usually have them "encirlcle" the entire screen.. meaning that I have one column going up on the right, that column continues across the top, and back down the left XD; There are probably some things that I can clean off of it though but that ruins my pattern. D:

Even the dock?! Inhumane! I don't think you're human anymore.

Everyone loves the dock. Everyone. Even the G-Man likes the icon dock!

WHAT?? Even the Quick Launch bar? But it hardly takes up any screen real-estate! (when you don't have the menu showing.) I think it's remarkably useful, and I think I actually underuse it...

But I do also hate lots of icons. A small to medium number is ok. But under no circumstances should any files other than shortcuts be placed on the desktop. Otherwise it gets... disgusting. :P
