*laughs* They make fun of Ganguro girls in Super Gals. They're a lot less scary in anime form!

All the people who have been tanned all their life end up in the resident dermatology clinic with skin like leather, and pre-malignant lesions all over their arms and legs that I have to burn off with liquid nitrogen (or worse, they wind up in the general surgery clinic with melanoma). Don't do it.

No offense to Volt, but I think they're rather hideous. Partly from the make-up, partly from the outlandish expressions on their faces.

Hmm... There was a really funny doonsebury comic a few years back about tanning... It's called "The tanning wheel" and it basically said "Tan - OUT! Green and sickly - IN!"

I honestly don't know why people associate being tan with being strong, healthy, virile, etc... My mom gets upset when I don't "get enough sun" Bah...

I admire their guts at looking different. I like being different. I'm a grunge kid at school, have long hair, wear baggy jeans and like heavy rock so I know what its like to look different. But...that really does look wierd...

I fail to find the looks of the 'Ganguro' girls very appealing.

oh!! they make fun of them in GALS! (they are drawn like fish!) XD

but when you tan alot when you're older your skin will be really wrinkly and look like prune... (at least that's what i've heard.)

i don't think they're hideous... actually i think they are a bit cute?! it looks funny (as in humourous) and i like it. it looks fun~ though i'm not sure if i would try it. if i did, it wouldn't be all the time... maybe once or twice in my lifetime...

p.s. there's also ganjiro, which are the opposite, and do everything to maintain an extreme paleness. i'm not sure if they put on really dark make-up however. ^v^

It looks kind of like a reverse Goth or something *l* Goths are like crows and dark things.... Ganguros are like bubbles and sunshine.

I dress in collared golf shirts and khakis or blue jeans, when I can help it. Goes with the fact that I'm a hide-bound social and political conservative, I suppose. That, and black doesn't look very good on me. I'm thin enough as it is, I don't need people thinking I'm a literal pole with feet.
