At this point I would like to request that you place the watchmen convo in spoiler tags (and please edit the post appropriately). I know there are some people who are either currently reading it or will be reading it soon that frequent this forum.

I had thought the chances of that were rather low, but if that is the case I will edit the former discussion so that it does not reveal anything. After all, I would hate to spoil such a good graphic novel.

I should be clear in that while I like Ozymandias as a character, I don't mean to justify his actions. Other than that, however, I think I will say nothing. It's clear further discussion would go deeper theologically than would be prudent.[/spoiler]

The only American "superhero" comics I somewhat keep track of would be the X-Men although that has spawned into bazillions paths/alternate universes/series.
Calvin and Hobbes are totally entertaining although I would have strangled Calvin in real life). I'm terribly fond of my fav. reporter/crime-fighter, Tintin and Captain Haddock (never have I liked an alcohol-lover so much). I grew up admiring Modesty Blaise and Willie Gavin's cool style of dealing with criminals, even if it may be a little non-merciful. XD

I’m sure the first person to mention a comic strip was simply trying to be funny, but I will now put my geek on to help folks understand a bit about the comic industry.
Comic Book – a serialized graphical book that tells a narrative. In other words, a short book that tells a story primarily through pictures. Text is mostly used for dialog or to convey sound. Comic Books are generally published monthly and have from 15-40 pages. Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, etc are mostly Comic Books.
Comic Strip – a serialized graphical strip that may or may not tell a narrative. Comic Strips are told in very short form, so they will generally convey a single idea, although an underlying plot may be developed through multiple strips. Comic Strips are generally published daily or weekly and consist of one to seven panels (a panel = a single picture). Peanuts, Calvin & Hobbes, and Dilbert are mostly Comic Strips.
