Favorite non-manga comic book character.

My favorite American comic book character, and probably my favorite fictional character of all time has got to be Spider-Man. He got me interested in comic books in the first place, which lead into my interest in anime and geekdom in general. And ever since I was five I have secretly wanted to be him.

Too bad Marvel comics has been messing up the character since the mid-90's.

I'm assuming by comic book you don't mean the Sunday funnies.

I'm a Batman fan, but moreso for the animated series by Warner than the comic books (though what I got my hands one was pretty awesome). And I enjoyed Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog series, but then he's really more famous for the video games, so that's no good.

We'll call it a drawn; I'll opt for Asterix.

Yeah, Spider-Man is my favorite too, based on my limited knowledge derived from the movies. I like how he's still himself when he fights as Spider-Man, and not some arrogant buff dude in tights. Not that those are all bad...just not as believable.

Yeah, Spider-Man is my favorite too, based on my limited knowledge derived from the movies. I like how he's still himself when he fights as Spider-Man, and not some arrogant buff dude in tights. Not that those are all bad...just not as believable.

I suggest picking up some "Marvel Essentials: The Amazing Spider-Man" books. They collect all the issues from the 60's and 70's, when AMerican comics were actually fun to read and not just depressing and serious.

Heh, reminds me of oldie Batman. I mena, compare those old TV shows with their "BAM!!" "WAMM!" and "ZOOM!"s, to the Batman of today. Well, ok it was more of a serious storyline and all, but c'mon!

I hear ya. I miss the days when comics were forvall ages and fun. If you read an old issue of Spider-Man it was colourful, entertaining, and they didn't have to dumb down the plot to make it accessible for everyone. And bring back word balloons on the cover!

Back in the day I used to read a lot of Superman comics.
I still have a stack load of Superman and Supergirl comics from the '90s.
Supes is the MAN in more than one way.

I do like some of those well-known super heroes, but I haven't read the comics (I'd never catch up!), but comics in general...Jughead Jones, Garfield, Odie, and Snoopy (yes, I still love them. =D But if this thread is geared more towards the super hero-type comic books...oh, well. At least I contributed instead of lurking!).

My first thought is Destruction from Sandman, for his general nonchalance, but after a bit of reflection I think I will choose Ozymandias from Watchmen. Mostly for the ending, though I do like how one magazine put it: he's so awesome that he put a hit out on himself.

But if webcomics count as a separate category, Dr. McNinja would get a reference. I also like Bob from Captain SNES.

A good character, certainly. But unless you mean to be entirely sarcastic, I must point out that Rorschach is a sociopath and the lines of good and evil in this case are very arguable.[/spoiler]

True, but at least he didn't kill billions of people in some crazy "the-ends-justify-the-means" act. And all the people he killed deserved it.[/spoiler]
