A friend recommended those two to me, and I'm wondering if anyone has read the manga because I was thinking of buying a few volumes. I jus wanted to know what to expect in terms of violence, profanity, and objectionable content. I already know the stories and they sund cool, but I don't want to get something that's too disagreeable.

There's a link at the top of your screen that says, "Manga Reviews." Check it out. ;)

Oh, what a noob am I?

Thanks.

EDIT:

Trigun doesn't sound that bad content wise. No more then some of the movies or TV shows I watch. I'll definantly check it out.

Trigun has been on Adult Swim.
I haven't seen Gunsmith Cats though.

I've seen some of the show, but I was looking for information on the manga.

I've read 11 volumes of Trigun Maximum (though not it's predecessor Trigun), and I'm hesitant to speak my mind, should you be tainted against a series you might actually enjoy more than I did. In brief, I thoroughly enjoyed the first 5 volumes of Trigun Maximum, after which I feel the Manga looses most of its steam and draws itself out; it would have worked very nicely at, say, 8 or so volumes and then closing, but instead drags on till finally wrapping up at about volume 15 (the Manga's Japanese run is slated to end this year, most likely).

But, there are certainly people out there who still enjoy the Manga past the point I did (and some of them are here), so ask around before judging it solely on my three cents.

For future reference, requests for info on Manga, should go into the manga section ]One of the main characters was a child prostitute before the beginning of the series. This fact is referenced many times and not at all in a negative light. She is proud of her past and was not forced into it.[/spoiler]

The anime, while still a tad fanservicy (nothing major here, though) is much shorter, so the bits that made me uncomfortable with the manga are not even implied in the anime.

Thanks. My friend gave me the impression that it was just about cars and guns.

ANother cool thing about Gunsmith Cats is the fact that, one would say, that it was filmed "on location" in Chicago. The creators of the 3-part OAV went to Chicago in November of '94 and collected info location-wise/gun-wise/politics-wise on Sweet Home Chicago. It makes me proud that the city that I live close to (I'm in a suburb of said city) has an anime all its own! :)

That's true. The anime had a lot of very realistic details that make it feel like it really is in Chicago and not in some weird Japanese impression of what Chicago may be like.

The cars, guns, and city are all drawn with a lot of attention to detail - right down to the Illinois license plates.

The Gunsmith Cats anime was a huge disappointment to me. About the only thing in it I liked was the Shelby GT500.
