Christian Background of Bridge To Terabithia

Postby mitsuki lover » Fri Mar 09, 2007 1:57 pm

I don't know how many of you know this but Bridge To Terabithia is really a Christian novel on the level of Narnia. In fact Katherine Paterson the author of the novel even has a scene in the book where Jess gives Les a copy of the Narnian stories to read.
This should not be too surprising as Mrs.Paterson is herself a Christian.
She is Presbyterian and was born and grew up on the mission field, especially Japan. She still enjoys collecting and writing about Japan and Japanese culture.

WOW! Really?

I have to read the novel now because of that. Not to mention it seemed interesting to me from the start.

I'm pretty sure The Bridge to Terebithia was more New Agey than Christian in undertones. Still a good book though.
